Frederick County Parks and Recreation offers Therapeutic Recreation (TR) programs designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and debilitating health conditions and emphasize participants’ unique abilities. Programs utilize trained staff, adapted spaces and equipment, and a high staff/ participant ratio to provide a positive experience for participants.
Therapeutic Rec ADAPTED CHEER TR
Children with developmental or intellectual disabilities are invited to join us for Adapted Cheerleading! We will learn motions, cheers, dances, and work to develop a choreographed routine. The season will culminate with a performance for family and friends to showcase our new routine. Essential Eligibility: Participants must be able to provide self care independently or with verbal direction, follow two-step directions, fully participate in activity with a 1:3 participant ratio, and navigate flat terrain independently or with the assistance of a parent/guardian/caregiver who is onsite. Those with developmental disabilities are invited to join us for an exciting evening of construction and destruction, where builds will go head to head in the Battle Block arena.
