Please do make an extra special effort – your vote is required. It is essential to have at least 12 members attending, to enable PE Richard to commence his year on a firm base. World Environment Day @ Baanabon School Our club joined with the Prince of Songkla University Department of the Environment to provide a stall and activities for school students of the region at World Environment Day. The focus was on Life in the Wild at which the issues of caged animals was highlighted. This is quite an issue in Thailand with a discovery of tigers in a temple being sold to China. The establishment of the Dolphinarium has received very mixed views. Several thousand students were in attendance and they watched plays about caged animals and then visited all the various stalls. At our stall, students were encouraged to draw trees and other items assisting the environment. Jimmies infectious enthusiasm certainly engaged the students and our Rotary Club was well represented.
Over this week with the meeting at BIS and the potential visit of 75 IB (International Baccalaureate) students at British International School to the BanYa school and today's full engagement with the local Thai community it is strengthening our role in education in Phuket. Thank you Dr. Peter Harris & Jimmie (photos)

News from Rotary International –
“We should not live for ourselves alone, but for the joy in doing good for others.” Arch Klumph, founder of The Rotary Foundation
In 2016-17, our Rotary Foundation turns 100. That’s a century of Rotary members changing lives and improving communities all over the world. And that’s definitely something worth celebrating. Through our Foundation, Rotary members have supported thousands of projects to provide clean water, fight disease, promote peace, provide basic education, and grow local economies. We’ve also been a leader in the fight to eradicate polio worldwide. The centennial is the perfect time to share this impressive record with the world. Join us in making sure that every Rotary member and people in every community know about the vital work of Rotary and its Foundation.
“The Rotary Foundation is the most visible expression of Rotarian generosity – a generosity that not only brings benefits but also brings help and cooperation to solve the problems that affect mankind.” Paulo V. Costa, 1995-96 Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair in a speech to the 1996 convention
