RBS Welcome Back BBQ’s

On September 1st in Newark and September 23rd in New Brunswick, Rutgers Business School welcomed back over 3,000 students, staff, and faculty for the first ever Welcome Back BBQ event. Originally planned as an outdoor event for both locations, coincidentally, both dates had rain in the forecast, but that did not dampen the energy and outcome. Both days were filled with live music, a barbecue spread of food, and giveaways. The leadership team was also seen behind the counters, distributing food to our many students. From From t-shirts, water bottles, leather portfolios, face masks, and magnets, no one walked out emptied handed. After 17-months apart, it was wonderful to see many faces, both new and old, back in our buildings.

RBS Faculty and Staff Retreat 2021

On Friday, October 1st, an enthusiastic group of over 100 RBS faculty and staff gathered at the beautiful Liberty House restaurant on the banks of Jersey City and the NYC Harbor, with many RBS professors joining the Deans’ annual faculty meeting virtually. Thank you to OTIS for successfully resolving the many tech challenges this offsite event presented.

Faculty and staff enjoyed a tasty luncheon buffet featuring grilled chicken with potatoes and green beans, tossed salad, lemon salmon, creamy pasta, and much more. The dessert trays of colorful petit fours, cookies and macaroons were as pretty as they were delicious.

With iconic views of the Manhattan skyline, everyone ventured outside to celebrate the warm weather, a gorgeous blue sky, pleasant surroundings, and the company of colleagues. It was great to resume a joyful RBS tradition, and, I think it is safe to say, we all look forward to getting together again soon.

Networking Over Football

On Saturday, October 2nd, the RBS Office of Alumni and Corporate Engagement hosted Rutgers University board members, friends, and families at the exciting Ohio State versus Rutgers football game at SHI Stadium overlooking the Raritan River in Piscataway. Almost 100 special guests attended the event in a large suite overlooking the field, complete with a buffet lunch, open bar, and RBS swag giveaways. Despite a disappointing loss to the 11th ranked Buckeyes, everyone had a lovely afternoon. Thank you to Sharon Lydon, Associate Dean, and Andrea Cunnell, Assistant Director, Office of Alumni and Corporate Engagement, for organizing what they hope will become an annual social and networking event.

RBS Classes of 2020 and 2021 Celebrate Graduation

On Sunday morning, October 24th, several Rutgers Business School students gathered at the Rutgers Athletic Center, not for a preseason basketball game or a wrestling match, but for the long-awaited RBS graduation ceremonies that had been postponed due to COVID-19 over the past two years. Highly anticipated by recent graduates, the opportunity to finally walk across the RAC stage, hear their names announced over the loud speakers and shake hands with Undergraduate Dean Marty Markowitz as they collected their diplomas, gave some members of the RBS Family the recognition and closure they have been searching for during these unprecedented and challenging times.

Thank you to Ron Richter, Helen Pensavalle, Matt Peyrek, and Madhavi Chakrabarty, and all the other volunteers who made this special day possible for the RBS Classes of 2020 and 2021.
