Leon Clifford Pictorial Collection of Life at Bulolo Forestry College 1966.
In 1963 Leon Clifford1 was transferred from Kerevat to Bulolo where he worked on tree improvement in Araucaria. Spp. REF. Tree improvement hoop and klinkii pines. Item No. 11, Silvicultural Research Conference, Bulolo, 1968. Pp. 1-9 (plus three append). Leon also established several yield plots and conducted a survey of termite damage in the hoop pine plantations (refer Ardley, Clifford, and Gay “Termite damage to plantation-grown hoop pine in New Guinea.” Paper presented to 12th International Congress of Entomology. Pp. 680-681, 1964).
In 1965 Leon was appointed to the position of Acting Principal of the Bulolo Forestry College following the departure of Joe Havel. The yield plots were used by the students at the forestry college for training in mensuration and growth studies. Leon left Bulolo in late 1970 to accept a position at the Regional Forestry Office, Lae.
