“I have been in the roofing industry for the past 34 years, having studied architecture originally at Thames Polytechnic. My career has taken me from working in roofing insulation for Vencel Resil, then to Barrier Insulations, before becoming manager of Aaron Roofing Supplies in Gloucester.

I managed that branch for over 28 years, seeing it through a major buy out, before moving on to Roofbase.

I’m delighted to be part of the Roofbase team, where I can use my knowledge and experience in flat roofing to give our customers the advice and guidance they need to do a good job for their customers. I love the company ethos here where customer service is paramount; it’s how it should be.

XTRA-GARD FLEXITORCH

CAPSHEET 8M X 1M

Xtra-Gard Flexitorch capsheets have been developed for use in high performance built-up systems on flat, pitched or curved roofs. The styrene butadiene styrene (SBS) elastomeric additive provides flexibility, especially at low temperatures, ease of installation and good weathering properties.

TECNATORCH

CAPSHEET 8M X 1M

Tecnatorch capsheet layer within a bituminous built-up torch-on roofing system. The membranes utilise a special grooved adhesion technology. The self-finished mineral surface provides a decorative and solar reflective finish for the built-up waterproofing system.

THERMAWELD

CAPSHEET 7M X 1M

Thermaweld capsheets are high performance torch-on SBS elastomeric roofing membranes with mini groove technology developed for use in high performance built-up systems on flat, pitched or curved roofs.

Single ply roofing membranes

Monarplan PVC single ply roofing membranes are guaranteed for up to 20 years when installed by an approved Monarplan contractor. Full training can be arranged upon request. The two membranes shown below are backed by a full range of ancillary products such as adhesives, flat sheet, trims and fixings to complete the job all from stock at your local Roofbase branch.

MONARPLAN GF & FM

Monarplan GF is a PVC single ply roofing membrane incorporating a polyester fleece backing for a fully adhered application using cold adhesives.

Monarplan FM is a PVC single ply roofing membrane designed for a mechanically fixed application.

Waterproof membranes

IKO-GOLDSEAL

GOLDSEAL

Goldseal 8m x 1m is an elastomeric polyester reinforced high performance torch on capsheet. The IKO Prevent Graphite Wall Technology incorporated in the bitumen gives it self extinguishing properties and hence a BROOF(t4) fire rating classification.

SBS PREMIUM UNDERLAY

A polyester reinforced SBS torch on underlay 12m x 1m with a sanded finish that complements the capsheets in a 20 year system.

MASTIC ASPHALT

Mastic asphalt gives a seamless waterproofing finish and long term durability. Roofbase offers IKO Roofstar from stock which gives a BS 476: Part 3 FAA rating and a 15 year product guarantee. Ancillary products such as Black Sheathing Felt and Glassfibre underlay are also available from stock. IKO Pavestar, Floorstar and Tankstar are also available to order.

RESITRIX SK W EPDM

Resitrix SK W EPDM is a fully self adhesive, hot air weldable and root resistant EPDM single layer waterproofing membrane. It has a certified service life of 50 years and when installed by a trained approved contractor benefits from a 20 year guarantee. It can be welded down to -10

degrees and has a non slip surface even when wet. Resitrix can be laid over many substrates, is 100% bitumen resistant and is available in 10m x 1m rolls. Full training can be arranged on request.

FLEXITEC 2020

Similar to GRP fibreglass, Flexitec 2020 is rapid curing with an extra tough finish. However, like a liquid waterproofing, it is flexible and can coat over felt, asphalt, concrete, GRP, PVC, metal details, approved insulation boards and timber.

It is fire tested to achieve a BS476: Part 3 Rating FAA and BROOF(t4).

Applied in a two coat system with a 225g/m2 chopped strand fibreglass matting as reinforcement Flexitec 2020 is supported by a 20 year guarantee when installed by a trained approved contractor. Full training can be arranged on request.

STRONGHOLD GRP ROOFING SYSTEMS STRONGHOLD GRP

Stronghold GRP (glass reinforced plastic) is manufactured to give a tough, long lasting waterproofing guaranteed for 20 years and looks great. A system of cold applied resin base coat, chopped strand matting reinforcement and top coat give a top fire rating BS476: Part 3 rating FAA.

Ideal, but not limited to the domestic market, GRP will form to complex shapes, it has after all been used for many years in the boat building industry!

The system eliminates the need for a naked flame and gives an attractive seamless finish. A complete range of finishing trims, necessary rollers and consolidators, OSB TG4 boards and insulation products are available from stock at Roofbase to complete your roof. Full training can be arranged on request.

INSULATION BOARDS

Insulation boards can be used with waterproof materials:

Torch on or pour and roll bitumen membranes

Fully adhered or mechanically fixed single ply membranes

Liquid waterproofing systems

GRP or EPDM Rubber systems

Mastic Asphalt

Stock thicknesses range from 30mm up to 120mm with thicker boards available to order. Tapered insulation boards can also be supplied in a cut to falls design specific to your roof requirements. Roofbase also offers a range of insulation boards from Kingspan, Rockwool, Celotex and Recticel.

Some Green roofs can be difficult to install requiring several independent elements to make up a Green roof system. Wallbarn M Trays are 500mm x 500m trays of mature established vegetation of either sedum or wild flower and can be easily carried onto the roof by one person and installed in no time at all. Available to order in just a few days M trays are an ideal solution to a Green roof requirement.

Roofglaze’s Flatglass AOV Smoke Vents have been thoroughly and independently tested to achieve BS EN 12101-2 compliance, catering for both natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilation.

LIQUID WATERPROOFING SYSTEMS

SINGLE COMPONENT, MOISTURE CURING PRODUCTS THAT PROVIDE EASE OF INSTALLATION AND VERSATILITY.

Roofbase has the pleasure of introducing the Sika Roofpro range of cold applied liquid waterproofing membranes. Roofpro One is a wet on wet applied liquid system that will bond direct to most substrates (priming may be required). A seamless

finish it can conform to virtually any shape and the polyester fleece reinforcement provides both strength and durability. On many applications it is possible to prime and install the liquid membrane on the same day. Roofpro One has a 20 year guarantee.

ROOFPRO & ROOFPRO ONE

Key features & benefits:

Roofpro and Roofpro Advanced are two coat polyurethane systems, fully reinforced with a fibreglass matting and providing a seamless finish.

10, 15 and 20 year guarantees are available depending on the system.

Both will bond direct to most substrates (priming may be required).

PRECISION MANUFACTURED BOARD FOR STRUCTURAL USE IN LOAD BEARING DRY CONDITION.

Oriented strand board (OSB) is a general-purpose alternative to plywood. OSB2 is approved for non-structural applications, while OSB3 is suitable for structural use. Both are fully FSC certified.

OSB is commonly used as sheathing in walls, flooring and roof decking. OSB3 a precision manufactured board for use in load bearing humid conditions.

At Roofbase we stock OSB/3 boards in the following sizes:

18mm x 2440mm x 1220mm

11mm x 2440mm x 1220mm

18mm TG4 2440mm X 610mm (tongued and grooved on four sides)

18mm OSB/3 is CE2 approved for structural use and is conditioned to retain it’s structural stability even in high humidity conditions

Structural plywood can be supplied to order, however this product is not consistent in quality and has the potential to delaminate. Lightweight profiled metal decking can also be supplied to order.
