Fall NASCAR Weekend Grand Opening
After a long, hot summer for fans of ISM Raceway, not only will NASCAR be back in the Valley of the Sun in November, but ISM Raceway will host the long-awaited Grand Opening of the $178 million modernization project. Among the many highlights of the modernization project is a completely redesigned infield Fan Zone featuring a first-of-its-kind Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Garage placing fans face-to-face with the superstars of the sport. ISM Raceway’s start/finish line will be repositioned in Turn 2 just before the track’s well-known dogleg. Other new highlights include a new pedestrian tunnel connecting the infield to the new seating areas featuring in-seat Wi-Fi connectivity. The modernization project also includes the installation of new/ upgraded seating and the new hospitality club - Curve, above the current Turn 1 location. A new grandstand will be built alongside upgraded seats in the existing Bobby Allison Grandstand (both featuring individual chair back stadium seats with armrests) complete with modern amenities such as new escalators and elevators, additional restrooms and concessions and a redesigned DC Solar Power Pavilion conveniently located near the seating areas Now that the playoff format has been adopted by both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR XFINITY Series, Phoenix has proven to be a crucial race and perhaps the most dramatic destination in the NASCAR season. Each race during the fall Can-Am 500 weekend determines the final four contenders that will advance to compete for each series’ title the following weekend. After Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series qualifying, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will run under the lights on Friday, Nov. 9. On Saturday, Nov. 10, ISM Raceway will celebrate Veterans Day with the NASCAR XFINITY Series race. With several of NASCAR’s rising stars making the jump from both these series to the premier Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, the sports next champions will all be fighting for the chance to write their name in the record books. The weekend is anchored by the Can-Am 500 on Sunday, Nov. 11. The Playoffs. The final Eliminator race. So much drama, tension and excitement packed into 312 miles. As the last few years have proven, anything can happen. Fans can’t miss out on the excitement of the grand opening weekend at ISM Raceway.
