Arrival and Dismissal

Lower School

Students are encouraged to be in their classrooms in Holding Hall Lower School starting at 7:45 a.m. to prepare for the day. School hours for Kindergarten through fifth grades are 8 a.m.-3 p.m. PreKindergarten is dismissed at noon. PreKindergarten Plus is dismissed at 3 p.m.

On early release days, students in PreK through fifth grades are dismissed at 11:45 a.m., and no lunch is served.

Lower School students MAY NOT remain on campus unsupervised while a sibling participates in an orchestra, band, choir or athletic practice; tutorial; or other after-school activity.

Carpool Hours and Drop-Off/Pick-Up Locations

Carpool Hours Carpool drop-off begins at 7:45 a.m. each morning, and pick-up begins at 3 p.m. each afternoon.

In the event a student arrives at 7:30–7:45 a.m., parents must escort their child to the Winston Library for supervision until students are released to their classrooms at 7:45. In the event that your child needs to be dismissed prior to our afternoon carpool at 3 p.m., please contact the Lower School Administrative Assistant to make arrangements. Drop-Off and Pick-Up Locations If you have multiple children in Lower School, your drop-off and pick-up location is the carpool line of your youngest child.

Students in grades K-3 are to be dropped off and picked up at the front of the Lower School, using our “Front Carpool” parking lot F.

Students in grades PreK, 4 and 5 are to be dropped off and picked up at the back of the Lower School, using our “Back Carpool” parking lot E.

It is essential that parents use these carpool lines and processes for dropping off and picking up students. Our faculty and staff meet and greet Lower School students at the curb, help them out of the car and send them safely along the sidewalk to their classrooms.

For the safety of our students and teachers, parents must avoid parking and walking their students to their classrooms.

Extended Day: Early Morning and Afternoon Supervision In the event that your family’s schedule requires that your child arrive at school before 7:30 a.m. or stay beyond 3 p.m., Ravenscroft offers an Extended Day Program.

Students arriving prior to 7:30 a.m. need to be enrolled in the Extended Day early morning care program. Students needing to stay after 3 p.m. need to be enrolled in the Extended Day afternoon program, which offers supervision until 6 p.m. You may register for Extended Day on our website.
