Fine Arts
Beginning in Lower School, Ravenscroft students are offered many opportunities to participate in our fine arts programs. Lower School students enjoy visual arts, a full general music curriculum and the opportunity to participate in drama productions, band, choir, strings ensembles and private instruction. Many courses and extracurricular options are available to Middle and Upper School students. Some require auditions.

Performance Attire For Band, Choir And Strings Fittings for performance attire are held prior to the start of school. Please reach out to Elisabeth McChesney to learn more. Upper School women wear a formal black gown and shoes (choir also wears jewelry). Upper School men wear a tuxedo and black socks/shoes. Ravenscroft.org



Private Instruction
Ravenscroft employs many talented instructors who provide private music instruction to students during their class day. Registration for private lessons begins in May and ends in early August.
Our private lessons are on a first-come, first-served basis and fill up quickly.
Instruments included are:
n violin (first grade)
n strings (second grade and up)
n piano (first grade and up)
n woodwinds (fourth grade and up)
n brass (fourth grade and up)
n percussion (ninth grade and up)
n and voice (sixth grade and up).
Most lessons are 60, 70 or 80 minutes in length. Depending on grade level or instrument, lessons may be 30 or 45 minutes.
