Nevada Spending to Reach $388 Million for Easter Celebrations Per-Person Spending Levels at Record High Spring is in the air, and Nevadans are preparing for the Easter holiday by purchasing sweets, gifts, decorations and plastic eggs from local retailers statewide. According to estimates from the Retail Association of Nevada (RAN), Nevadans are projected to spend $388.4 million celebrating Easter this year. The spending estimates are based on a recent survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF), which found that 81.0 percent of Americans nationwide plan to celebrate the holiday this year. According to the NRF, celebrants will spend an average of $192.01 on holiday items, an all-time high and up 13.1 percent from 2022. Nationwide, total spending is expected to reach $24.0 billion, another historic high and 15.4 percent higher than the $20.8 billion projected for Easter 2022. “Nevadans are paying more this year to celebrate the Easter holiday as a result of ongoing inflation, public policy changes, and market challenges such as the bird flu outbreak,” said Bryan Wachter, Senior Vice President of RAN. “Eggs continued to have the largest yearover-year price increase as of February. Inflation has hit food prices the hardest, and it is going to take time before consumers see relief in their grocery bills from lowering inflation rates.” Candy and sweets are the most popular purchase this year once again, with 90.0 percent of survey respondents planning to spend a total of $53.2 million in Nevada, according to RAN. Food came in a close second with 89.0 percent of respondents spending a total of $117.6
