Super Bowl Spending to Eclipse $168 Million in Nevada National Spending Levels are Projected to Hit Record Highs Super Bowl LVIII is set to witness a clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers on February 11 in Las Vegas. This year’s game is also set to make history as the first Super Bowl to be held in Nevada. The Retail Association of Nevada (RAN) estimates that a record 2.0 million Nevadans will tune in to witness whether Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs can repeat as champs or if the 49ers can win their first title in three decades. In anticipation of the Super Bowl, Nevadans are expected to spend $168.6 million on televisions, furniture, team apparel, food and other items to celebrate the big game, according to RAN projections. These estimates are based on a recent survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF). More than 200 million Americans plan to watch the Super Bowl this year, with viewers spending an average of $86.04, a 0.8 percent increase from last year’s reported $85.36. According to the NRF, food and beverages remain the most popular purchases, with 80 percent of viewers planning to stock up on snacks and drinks for the big game. Other items on the shopping list included team apparel or accessories (13 percent), televisions (9 percent), decorations (8 percent) and furniture (6 percent). Moreover, the NRF found that 44 percent of viewers think that the game itself is the most important part of Super Bowl Sunday. Other top reasons to tune into the broadcast included the halftime show (19 percent) and the commercials (18 percent). www.RANNV.org

The big game in Nevada by the numbers: • 176,000 Televisions – According to the NRF, 9 percent of viewers plan to buy a television this year, amounting to approximately 176,000 television purchases in the Silver State. • 255,000 Team Apparel Purchases – The NRF notes a 13 percent increase in viewers planning to buy team apparel compared to last year. RAN estimates that 255,000 viewers in Nevada will purchase team apparel this year. • 157,000 Decorating Fans – About 8 percent of viewers plan to buy decorations, a 20 percent increase from last year, according to the NRF survey. RAN estimates that 157,000 viewers in Nevada will be adding decorations to their Super Bowl parties this year. • 13.9 Million Chicken Wings – The National Chicken Council estimates 1.45 billion wings will be consumed nationwide during the big game, flat from 2023. RAN projects that 13.9 million chicken wings will be eaten in Nevada during the game this year. • $148 Million Wagered – RAN projects gross wagering on the big game at Nevada sportsbooks to eclipse $148.0 million in 2024 which is roughly in line with the prior year.
