QUICK, AT A GLANCE LOOK AT 2022 SHOWS THAT THE RETAIL Association of Nevada is going to have a remarkably busy year! The upcoming election will be vitally important. Granted, each election is important, but this year voters will make the determination whether they are ok with political “business as usual” or make the decision to elect a government that will help the State of Nevada and its’ citizens to come out of this pandemic as a better state. The 2021 Legislative Session along with the subsequent Special Session were exceedingly difficult for the public and lobbyists alike. The pandemic closures of the building and the limited ability to provide input on legislation via testifying, due to the rules put in place by the majority party to stifle debate, guaranteed mayhem and lack of good policy. Combined with Nevada’s term limits, this truncation of testimony was a recipe for disaster. Nevada’s citizens were almost guaranteed poor caucus cooperation, leadership with limited experience and no real working across the chambers. We have reaped what we sowed, as the saying goes. population is exhausted from the Governor’s directives, the masks, and the tailor-made rules that are ignored by some and criticized by others. Businesses continue to have a challenging time finding employees, and many are rebuilding their companies, brick by brick.
