Nevada Retailers Applaud Legislation Introduced by Senator Cortez Masto To Combat Organized Retail Crime The Retail Association of Nevada issued the following statement in response to the introduction of the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act of 2023 and the Organized Retail Crime Center Authorization Act in the U.S. Senate, sponsored by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV). “Organized retail crime is a nationwide problem that touches every community when stores are targeted for organized shoplifting, and online marketplaces are flooded with potentially dangerous stolen and counterfeit goods,” said Bryan Wachter, Senior Vice President of the Retail Association of Nevada. “On behalf of Nevada’s retailers, we applaud the legislation introduced by Senator Cortez Masto as a step to protect Nevada’s retail employees and our customers. This continues to be an issue close to home with Las Vegas consistently ranking among the US cities most affected by organized retail crime.” This legislation helps to address the threat of organized retail crime to Americans and will establish a Center to Combat Organized Retail Crime to be led by Homeland Security Investigations to help increase the collaboration of federal law enforcement agencies, retail investigators and state agencies to more effectively coordinate efforts to combat this growing safety risk. ### www.RANNV.org
