MESSAGE FROM Soror Joyce G.Barlow
Cluster IV Coordinator Greetings Sorors, The Sensationally Significant Cluster IV continues to serve in Excellence and celebrate our sorority. You are of the utmost importance in the delivery of programs that inspire, strengthen and promote mankind. I thank you for the gift of you and sharing of your talents. Upon rendering our programs of service, have you ever stopped to think about the enhancement of your own personal growth. Your circle of giving has enlarged due to your efforts spent sharing, teaching and coordinating. Our Cluster IV Newsletter will continue to highlight your dedication to mankind, gratitude and paying it forward. Continue to serve your community and enjoy the process; one step at a time. We have added several featured areas to our newsletter: Poets’ Corner, Awards Section, Educational Advancement Fund, Scholarship Recipients and The Basilei Limelight. The basis of our programs is education, removing barriers, building infrastructures, planning and renewing collaboration. As we communicate with each other, utilize technology and maintain sisterly team approaches our horizons have expanded and placed us on the forefront and in the headlines. To our Gamechangers, you are included in empowering, researching and creating the difference. You are the change we are seeking for a better life and world. Change is inevitable, how will you accept and be a part of the movement? Continue to ask the question why? Challenge our way of thinking, attitudes and emotional responses. Our future lies within you and we are expecting you to soar to the heavens of new growth and development. Much success to our graduating Gamechangers and your chosen future pathway. We know that our nation and the world awaits the delivery of your ability and creativity. The excellence you have displayed while an undergraduate commands your exploration of the challenges ahead. Gamechangers; leading and delivering with confidence. Finally, I can not close without mentioning our 68th Virtual South Atlantic Regional Conference. The presentations presented were done in Excellence. The educational and informative workshops were beyond comparison and each attendee left with a wealth of excitement, knowledge and renewed in-depth love of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Let us continue with our programs of Excellence and Serving! Serving Significantly,
Soror Joyce G. Barlow Joyce G. Barlow

HBCU FAMILY SUPPORT Gamma Tau Omega Chapter member, Soror Kathy Jones and her Honey Do, Columbus physician, Dr. Alonzo E. Jones gifted their alma mater, Fort Valley State University, a total of $700,000 since 2017. During a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, April 19, 2021, Fort Valley State University President Paul Jones announced the naming of the newly constructed Christine and Willie Jones Amphitheater. The name honors the late parents of Dr. Alonzo Jones, who had eight of their thirteen children graduate from FVSU and become successful physicians and business professionals. In addition to the amphitheater naming, ceremonies also included the surprise announcement of the new Dr. Alma Jones Endowed Professorship of Social Justice in honor of Soror Kathy’s sister in law, Dr. Alma Jones (the first of the eight siblings to graduate from FVSU). The endowed professorship is the first in the University’s history.
Kappa Eta Omega hosted a "Financially Fit For College" webinar with guest speaker Angie Wilson. During the webinar, CAP students and their families received pertinent information about the admissions process.

AKA Assist Day gave Kappa Eta Omega the opportunity to serve. Kappa Eta Omega partnered with a local church to organize a Free Food Giveaway. By working together, Kappa Eta Omega donated 151 bags of food to local families. Sorors also donated water and Gatorade to Lowndes Associated Ministries to People (LAMP). LAMP is a shelter for battered women and families in the Lowndes county area. Kappa Eta Omega hosted Green Table Talk session where they invited others to learn about financial freedom and how to "secure the bag and keep it." The session included information about credit reporting, managing your credit scores, and other important financial guidance. Finally, Sorors are spending the month recording the amount they spend with black businesses. The chapter is highlighting black businesses on social media to encourage others to spend money with black owned businesses.
Tau Theta Omega Chapter launched a social media campaign that promoted tips for financial literacy.

And God Said.. And God Said, "I'll make a woman" A women of substance, A woman of pride, A woman who is able to put Petty things aside. THE QUIET HERO The first thing an educator learns is“Students are people regardless of age.” And that educators are entrusted to teach them To excel on life’s brutal stage. Touching students in a very special way Giving encouragement and praise, Creating challenges and motivating young minds To journey through the educational maize. Never giving up on any child, An educator’s expectations always run high. Instilling the gift of the joy of learning, In the soul of a girl or boy is his battle cry. Feeling responsible and going that extra mile To see a child “Get it” is his dream come true. Doctors, lawyers, engineers and teachers All owe their success in life to you. The last few years have introduced a new task. Covid-19, in school, and virtual learning arrived on the scene. Now washing hands, sanitizing, and wearing protective masks. Your children need not worry, you’ll keep the class clean. For the educator is ultimate role model Standing tall in the hearts of those they touch. Quiet unsung heroes Courageous individuals sacrificing so much. Like a million candles burning bright, Leading generations of children from darkness to light. And just as the candle flickers as a breeze passes by The spirit of an inspiring educator shall never die. Golden Soror Cynthia N. Saxton March 2005 Revised April 2021

When will we tire of the bucket? Can we ever be happy for one another Your success equals my success When you’re down, I don’t push You under, but lend a genuine hand With no strings attached? We are forever bound to one another A history predating slavery Yes, we were great before bondage and chains My brother, my sister Can’t we be happy for one another When one of us claims a victory When a Queen embraces her skin And kisses herself no matter The shade of her melanin I just want to see us win Do we not deserve this? No more aims at our Kins’ Achilles, it is time We lengthen the ladder So we can all climb up.

United as a people fighting to be equal.......Last month marked the first anniversary of the death of Breonna Taylor. 13 months ago, she was lying in her bed and was shot EIGHT TIMES and MURDERED by the police. Yet over 366 days later, there is still no justice and let us be honest, there is still no peace. So let us all say her name......Breonna Taylor!! Say it louder.........Bre-onna Tay-lor.........for we can never for-get HER.......If we want to get real, we cannot forget young Emmitt Till. For we cannot forget him.....for he was the beginning of our national outrage, our tears and our collective fight. And now over 6 decades later we have to mourn the death of Daunte Wright The killings of unarmed black bodies have been happening since we landed on American soil, shackled, and chained, only to be told that our lives did not matter because we were only 3/5ths a human being. Yet we stood ......United as a people fighting to be equal! In the fields, we created our hymens that told a story of our God and his power within. Even though they did not see our humanity.... we understood the reality.......For I hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal....... and I declare RIGHT NOW that the middle passage will have no sequel We are a generation in the process of redefining ourselves.... We will not be quiet. We will not be silenced and will not be still we will do it for Bryona and yes Emmit Till And now we have a new fight for 20-year-old Donte Wright......!! This generation is tired of yall being sick and tired of being sick and tired of being sick and tired. You don’t have to consider yourself fired.....but we will pick up the torch, and continue to get into good trouble... So, I hate to burst everyone’s bubble. But the revolution has already been televised..... It started in Ferguson with our hands to the skies.... Shoulder to shoulder united as a people fighting to be equal We hushed the chatter as we protested and marched shouting that black lives matter. it continued during a pandemic with our mask on as we took to the streets …...my generation told the world that we would no longer sing “We shall overcome someday.” Because someday is NOW...........this is our solemn vow We are the seed and hope of the slave they could not kill..... Fighting for Breyona Taylor and young Emmett Till and now our plight included Dounte Wright! For I know this in my chore for my generation is who we have been waiting for We will rise to the occasion........with the answer to the equation. We the YOUNG people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, DEMANDS justice...... And put a bounty on her head....... Yes, you heard what I said! The once hunted is now the hunter.....the roles are about to be reversed......So before we jump off this cliff, I invite you to come a little closer as I dismantle a myth...... I’ll say it again for those in the back.......This is a matter of FACT.....The revaluation has already been televised …..hashtagged, and it is now trending.... and we do not care who its offending Because we are united as a people fighting to be Equal..... Spoiler alert, unlike “Coming to America,” the middle passage will not have a sequel.
s k l o F k c Bla Souls of By Soror Makisha Cheeks Lambda Xi Omega
Martin, where are you? Times haven't changed. We look to them for protection while being beat and calling Jesus'; name. Non-violence, you preach while America cries with laughter. The souls of our Blacks folks never live happily ever after. Sorry, Brother Martin, your message they say delete; Another dead black child is gone. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Sleep well precious one. Eyes won’t see dawn. The hell with letting bygones be bygones.
Did you see how they treated her? Oh, that's right, you haven't heard. News didn't find her soul important, so No one bothered to say a word. Heard there's another protest this week, Elders gather to march in beat. It is justice. Justice. Just us they seek. Did you see them burn that building down? They blamed us as usual. Another dent in our tilted crown. Lewis is gone. Just in case you didn't know. His last days were marked with Pettus; We knew he wasn’t ready to go. Good trouble is vanishing fast. They killed that Sistah blow by blow. That body didn’t last. No Sistah. No. But, these are the stories they don’t want you to know. Did you see them storm the Capitol? We know what they sow. The saints of AmeriKKKa, Trump’s new reality show. Told the students on the hill to be smart and wise. Sorry, Brother DuBois, students left school saying they were tired of the lies; One said he heard Freddie's voice as a proud black man.
My Sistah stood with a tear-stained face and said, "that didn't stop the Glocks, they carried in hand." Don't tell me about education as though it's 1965.
People don't respect our Blackness, and here is where the problem lies. Double consciousness, you speak? Seems more like assimilation and invisibility has reached its peak. We are pitted against each other and denounced for where we come. With a certain level of ignorance that if we make it across the tracks, we have won. Joe don't tell us you know we are pained. Week 56, another one of us slayed. Breathless, body 9 feet deep. Ease that father's strain to tell his wife their son won’t return from eternal sleep. Is Crump on the way? Seems like he's in our home’s day after day. Be proud, you say. Georgia is blue, and Kamala will make a way. Remember, Obama, and to the Most High we pray. Wake up Joe. We hear what you say. Justice will be served. Any plans to travel back our way? We see you in our churches, schools, and communities when a vote is needed. It's time for payback and more chairs at your table for us to be seated. Don't think ONE of US will do and silent means free. We won't stop our agenda until we are greeted and treated with the respect to simply be. Our souls are weary and bodies are tired; Equality, Freedom, and Peace is all we required. When will our children be able to play with joy and laughter? Just like those in books who live happily ever after.

Delta Eta Omega
Delta Eta Omega Chapter Inc. held its biennial Fashionetta on April 10, 2021. This year’s novel event, entitled “2021 Fashionetta in Review,” was a walk back in time to reflect on and appreciate former experiences and participants. The virtual presentation began with greetings from Basileus, Soror Debra Capers and Fashionetta chairman, Soror Glorya Williams. The narration by Sorors Patricia Dunlap and LaToyia Jackson commenced with interesting background information on the chapter and the presentation. It also reviewed the chapters involvement in the five International Targets. The focus then shifted to the recognition and showcasing of award recipients both in the chapter and from the community. The next segment was a stroll through the decades of guest performers and performances beginning with the 1951 renowned play “Guest in the House.”
It also highlighted performances by The Tallahassee Boys Choir, The Bar-Kays,“ An Evening with Suzette Charles (then reigning Miss America), Reggie Ward, The Georgia Mass Choir, and the musical “Resurgence, A Musical Journey through the Harlen Renaissance,” just to name a few. The culmination of the event included the purpose and results of the contestant competitions. Three past winners, one Miss Fashionetta, one Junior Miss Fashionetta, and one Little Miss Fashionetta, shared how participation in Fashionetta has impacted their lives. It concluded with the presentation of the reigning winners who were crowned in 2019. These young ladies will continue to represent the chapter until our next Fashionetta presentation. We are profoundly grateful to the Albany and Southwest Georgia for their continued participation and support. All funds amassed in Fashionetta go back into the local community in fulfilling our efforts in caring out our International Targets, scholarships, and donations to needed causes and organizations.
