MESSAGE FROM Soror Joyce G.Barlow
Cluster IV Coordinator Greetings Sorors of Cluster IV, We have quietly eased into 2022 with little fanfare and the utmost of thankfulness for a new year. Who would have ever thought that we would continue to live in a remaining sense of isolation, mask wearing and social distancing? Yet, despite the constraints we are still here and able to engage our lives with gratitude and hope. The turbulence of voter rights and inequities prevail around us with safety remaining foremost on our minds. Goals have been set, revisited, redefined with activities and a realistic agenda reviewed to awaken our thoughts as they relate to the activities of our lives. I wish you much success in maintaining the successful completion of your personal goals. In your next planning session or committee meeting, it’s also time to review the chapter’s Strategic Plan. Reevaluate, Review and Refocus on the Strategy that was set a few years ago. Utilization of our critical skills of thinking and analyzing will helps us determine our chapter’s status of growth and development. Each committee member should give meaningful input and the plan updated as needed. Shall I mention, the strategic plan should be presented to the entire membership because they are the body that has the power to implement and achieve the identified goals. I would be remiss if I failed to mention our 2021 Cluster IV Meeting held in Columbus, Georgia. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format to maintain the safety and health of everyone. The workshop presentations on Risk Management, The Membership Intake Process, Sorority Programs and Chapter Operations delivered a wealth of information to all attendees. A salute was rendered to our Diamond Former Cluster Coordinator, Soror Clinita A. Ford, our service projects, Sheroes, and Soror Entrepreneurs. The announcement of the winners of our Former Cluster Coordinators Awards was also a highlight. We have embedded a few of the videos for your review in this issue. On another note, by the time, this newsletter reaches your email we will have virtually attended our 114th International Founders’ Day Celebration. We say thank you to Ethel Hedgemon Lyles for her vision as we provide an “Enduring Legacy of Excellence.” The celebration led by our International President; Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover was outstanding. Sisters, continue to hold your hand up and serve mankind with authenticity. Take a moment and review the program on our Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc YouTube channel or Facebook page. We are eternally grateful, and we know that our 16 founding sorors are smiling in gratitude and love as we acknowledged our 114th year of existence. In the interim, let’s continue to lead from the inside with strong bonds of sisterhood and service. Sisterly Leaership,
Soror Joyce G. Barlow Joyce G. Barlow

Cluster IV Meeting December 3, 2021
Thank you to all of Cluster IV as we stood United and Rise!
CLUSTER IV HOSTS OUTSTANDING FALL MEETING Cluster IV brought the 2021 South Atlantic Region Cluster Meeting season to an end on Saturday, Dec. 4, as the members of Gamma Tau Omega Chapter and Tau Theta Omega Chapter hosted the final Cluster IV Meeting of the “Serving Significantly” administration: “A Legacy of Excellence and Significant Service.” More than 700 sorors registered for the hybrid event which was based at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center in Columbus, Ga. Under the leadership of Soror Joyce G. Barlow, Cluster IV Coordinator, Soror Carolyn G. Randolph, South Atlantic Regional Director, Soror Keisha Cook, Gamma Tau Omega Chapter, and Soror Kalinda Knight, Tau Theta Omega Chapter, served as the co-chairmen for the 2021 Cluster IV Meeting; and their Basilei, Soror Vanessa Downer, Gamma Tau Omega, and Soror Tammy Hinson, Tau Theta Omega Chapter a dynamic meeting was held. They worked tirelessly, along with their committees, to plan an EXCELLENT meeting. On the evening before Cluster Meeting, VSGs and Cluster IV Basilei gathered for a special dinner with Madam Regional Director. Chapter Basilei also participated in a hybrid Basilei Chat with Madam Regional Director. During Saturday’s meeting, sorors in-person and online were able to engage in informative workshops on MIP, risk management, leadership, EAF, and program targets. Sorors also heard a short recap of the nominations process for Alpha Kappa Alpha. The meeting also highlighted special service projects and other activities taking place throughout the Cluster as well as a tribute to Soror Clinita A. Ford, former Cluster IV Coordinator, who became a Diamond Soror in 2021. In addition to the workshops, a number of sorors and chapters were recognized as 2021 Cluster IV Award recipients for their outstanding contributions to the work of their chapter and to the cluster. The Cluster awards are named in honor of former Cluster IV Coordinators. Please take the time to enjoy a few Cluster IV feature presentations. The links are lccated on the next page.
