BLITZ EXPRESS LLC I loved to travel and determined that the best way to make money and see the country was to obtain my CDL. So, in 2004 at the age of eighteen, I did just that. Because of my young age, I did have many limitations on what I could and could not do but that did not stop me from dreaming. I always knew that I would make it. I was also smart enough to realize that I would need help and could not do it on my own. A few years later with plenty of truck driving experience under my belt along with the confidence that I needed, I managed to convince my wife, Mirela, and my brother, Dragan, to start Blitz Express in 2011.

Blitz Express is a family owned and operated carrier company based out of Dallas, TX providing transportation services to customers throughout the United States since 2011. They offer regional, expedited, dedicated, long-haul and LTL (partial load) services. They pride themselves in providing exceptional service that is tailored to a company’s specific capacity and service needs while managing cost. They focus on helping their business partners run efficiently by utilizing a combination of the finest manpower, equipment, and technology available. They provide GPS tracking, electronic logs and most importantly professional experienced personnel. Their goal is to ensure safe and reliable deliveries understanding that every customer has unique shipping needs that must arrive at its final destination safely and on time. Blitz currently maintains four technicians on staff and operates sixty-three units with fifty Volvo trucks in their fleet.

How did you get your start in trucking?

When thinking about my future during my teen years, I always knew that I wanted to have my own business.

Being the free spirit that I am, I unfortunately did not do so well in school. I recognized that I had to be resourceful and find other avenues other than higher education and college to achieve my goals.

As a family owned and operated company, tell us more!

It is pretty easy to brag on my family. My talented wife, Mirela, had the skills, education and management experience that I lacked. She is extremely organized and is a problem solver by nature. When she sets her mind on something, she will persist and always comes through. That is why

she manages all of the administrative side of things.

My only sibling and brother, Dragan, has always been my right hand. He is willing to go to any length to get the job done. He had also been driving a truck for a few years which was a major advantage that he additionally had experience in the industry as well.

He currently oversees all maintenance operations.

To complete the team, my brother-in-law, Juan, and sister-in-law, Marica, also joined us. Juan runs dispatch and Marica handles the accounting.

They have been an incredible asset from the very beginning and I cannot give them enough credit for what they bring to the team. My father, Miro, recently joined us as well and runs maintenance, parts inventory and does shop data entry.

What was Blitz like in the early days?

We started with two trucks, then five and were working from a home office. We have had a lot of roadblocks and many ups and downs. We have made mistakes and had failures, but we persevered through them all. With every fall, we worked longer, harder and smarter always as a team, and always as family. We knew that our strength was in the complete dedication of our team.

What does Blitz look like today?

With time, we expanded and grew. As our company expanded, so did our team.

We currently own sixty-three trucks, ninety-nine trailers, a mechanic shop and a large office suite.

What else would you like to share about Blitz?

Our mission for starters. We aim to set a higher standard in the transportation industry by providing top-notch service at a reasonable cost. We strive to be the best. We want to be the best service provider, employer, and community member. This is the reason why we pay above average to hire quality drivers, go beyond the industry standard to provide great service, and invest in reliable equipment that is new, low emission, and clean idle certified to protect the environment. Most of our equipment is maintained in house to help ensure public safety. As a result, our customers can expect reliable, punctual, and safe service. We are proud of our good reputation and we will continue to work hard to maintain it.

Tell us about your first truck and why you choose to run Volvo?

The first truck that I owned was a Volvo so I definitely have the most experience with Volvo. They are, by far, the most comfortable truck out there in the market. Drivers like them the best and that is why I stick with Volvo. Having mainly Volvos in my fleet certainly makes it easier to keep drivers. I get good deals on my Volvos with my Bruckner Truck Salesman, Randy Morrow. I have worked with Randy for five years now and we have a really good working relationship.

He takes care of us, and we work really well together. We value the safety and comfort of the Volvo trucks.

Being the dreamer that you are, what are your future plans for Blitz?

Honestly, I would like to have 150 trucks in our fleet and build a terminal. (Ivan laughingly replies) We have come a long way, but our story is just beginning.

We are excited to see what the future holds for us and look forward to many more successful years with our Blitz family and business partners. I see us continuing to grow. Growth is definitely in our future.

What do you attribute your success to?

We are successful because of the entire team that we have in place. From our mechanics, dispatchers, recruiters, administrative team, safety, and drivers, I can honestly say that they are a major driving factor in our success story. They are all a part of the Blitz family. The second major factor in our success has been our business partners such as Bruckner Truck Sales and Triumph Insurance Group that have stood by us and believed in our ability to be successful.

They also have played an important role in our story.
