At Yon Family Farms, we have been quietly cultivating our herd for over 36 years. Following the warm reception of our 2-day event which began in 2022, we are continuing this tradition, and offering not just herd bulls, but donors, pairs, bred heifers, a slate of open heifers that are incredible, and frozen embryos. We are also offering a neat group of uniform, commercial bred heifers.
The females will sell on Friday, complementing our Fall Bull Sale, held on Saturday, where you can see first-hand, the bulls that are produced by our cow herd. Many of the mothers and sisters to these bulls will sell.
• Yon Family Farms is a grass and forage farm, and the cattle are our harvesters.
• This farm remains the sole source of our family’s livelihood, with six of us having boots on the ground every day and provides for eleven other fully committed team members.
• All lots have had a genomic test which improves the accuracy of genomic predictions and confirms parentage.
• Your satisfaction in the cattle is guaranteed – while this is not a life insurance policy, we will do our best to keep you as a repeat customer.
Our family has been diligently sorting through this herd, year after year. In addition to EPD criteria, great selection pressure has been placed on soundness, eye appeal, feet, udders, fertility, and disposition. We literally sort them OUT of the breeding herd if issues arise.
Notice the maternal side of the pedigrees in the entire offering. Every pedigree reads with one prefix, “Yon,” proof that generations of females, stacking proven cow families, have established the roots to sustain this program.
WE KNOW THESE COWS – the Maternal Roots run deep… Grounded in fertility, data, form, and function.
Thank you for your interest in what we do and if we can be of help to you, feel free to contact any of us.
If you can’t attend on sale day, you can bid via the internet, telephone, or with absentee bids. We will work with you however you wish to get the cattle you need.

There are over 500 bred females in the Yon Family Farms herd that rank in the top 25% or higher for $Maternal, $Grid, $Beef, and $Combination Indexes - ALL FOUR. Over 54% of our bred females rank in the top 10% for $Maternal Index. Over 48% of our bred females rank in the top 10% for $Combined Index.
The females are straight from the heart of our herd. Many of the females in this offering, are the dams of top selling bulls in our sales. We want our customers to be successful and profitable with the females they purchase from us and believe these are the right kind of females to make this happen.
Calving Information We will continue to keep up-to-date calving details posted on our website. Delivery of Females We do not offer free delivery of females but will gladly assist with trucking arrangements.
There are nearly1500 active registered females at YFF. After tabulating the YFF Female AVERAGE, this is how they rank in the overall ANGUS female population.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2025 AT 11:00 A.M.
91% of the YFF offering meets Targeting the BrandTM genetic requirements for the Certified Angus Beef ® brand.
Only the top 73% of the bulls that were weaned in the two-year-old contemporary groups, have made the cut to be sold in this auction.
The bottom end of our bulls become steers .
There are no bulls sold prior to sale day and they have not been picked over.
We don’t trim feet. The bulls have not been clipped. They are slicked off after a long, hot summer as they should.
You will find many of the cattle in the offering sired by “Yon” bulls, both AI and natural service. We believe it is important to use the bulls we produce to ensure their calves can compete in groups of calves sired by well-respected AI bulls. Our genetics are adaptable to many geographical areas and actually seem to thrive in the hot, humid conditions in the Southeast, including areas that rely on fescue. Bull Delivery is free in FL, GA, NC, SC and anywhere in the continental US with a $6000 purchase.
The coming two-year-old bulls were weaned, (with no creep) and preconditioned. They were supplemented with a ration, consisting largely of wheat/oat/ryegrass baleage, and corn silage, with limited amounts of hominy and corn gluten feed. All spring and summer they developed on grass, be it oats, triticale, wheat, ryegrass, millet, fescue, or bermuda. Those offered in the sale not only made the cut after weaning time, but stood up to the test of maintaining their body condition on forages. Other than routine deworming, fly control, and free choice minerals, these bulls were developed on a high forage diet with absolutely no pampering as they matured. They are rock-solid and we are confident they will perform in the pasture, breeding cows as trouble-free sires should. We prefer to develop our two-year-old sale offering in this manner as it is more economical over the longer development period and certainly fits a real-world commercial situation, while helping to ensure longevity.
Data should only be compared WITHIN like age and development groups. Use the EPDs to compare bulls between the development groups.
Long Yearling Bulls (September born)
The coming yearling bulls were weaned, (with no creep) and preconditioned. Due to numerous requests for yearling bulls in the Fall Sale, September born bulls are offered in the fall. These bulls were fence line weaned on grass and continued to limit graze post weaning for several weeks. Late summer they were started on a high roughage ration consisting largely of corn silage, wheat/oat/ryegrass baleage, Bermuda hay, hominy, and corn gluten feed.
How the bulls are handled...
1. At birth, bulls were vaccinated for Clostridial disease and IBR, PI3. Bulls were vaccinated at 3-4 months of age for BVD, BRSV, IBR, PI3, Pasteurella and Clostridial disease. Bulls were also vaccinated with wart vaccine and Endovac. At weaning, bulls were boostered for the same and were dewormed. Approximately a month before the sale, bulls received booster vaccines, dewormer, and were given a vibriosis/ leptospirosis vaccine.
2. Bulls were not creep fed at any point and were weaned on forages with no grain. After a short adjustment period following weaning, they all began test. ET bulls are so noted in the sale book and were raised on recipient dams.
3. YFF has been Johne’s testing for over 24 years (JPL4). The bulls all tested negative for PI-BVD.
4. Bulls were scanned for ultrasound measurements by Andy Meadows, DVM, a B.I.F. and AAA Cup Certified technician from Springwood Livestock Management Systems in Wytheville, VA.
5. All bulls were given a complete breeding soundness exam by Dr. Jeff Nordin and Dr. Joel Riley from Saluda, S.C. in October 2025. All bulls older than 18 months, on sale day, are tested for Trich.

An Expected Progeny Difference (EPD) is a prediction of how future progeny of a sire or dam are expected to perform in various production and carcass traits which are measurable. EPDs are expressed in actual pounds, square inches, or centimeters (depending on the trait), plus or minus what you can expect in the weights or measurements of progeny sired by a particular animal as compared with another animal. The EPDs of the animals listed in this sale book can be compared to other animals of the same breed.
EPDs are breed specific. Don’t compare EPDs between Angus, Ultrablack and SimAngusTM
The CAB® icon will appear on the pedigree of those bulls that meet the criteria for targeting the Certified Angus Beef® Brand. 91% of this offering qualify for CAB® “Targeting the Brand”!
Calving Ease Direct (CED) - is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.
Birth Weight EPD (BW) - predicts the difference in average birth weight of a bull’s calves compared to calves of another bull. Reported in pounds. *Experience has shown that an Angus bull with a CED EPD of +8 or higher and a BW EPD of +1.5 or less can be used on first-calf heifers with a minimal number of calving problems. If you do not have heifers to breed and just need a bull for cows that have calved before, most Angus bulls are acceptable for use on mature cows from a birth weight standpoint.
Weaning Weight EPD (WW) - is a prediction of a bull’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny. For example, Bull A has a Weaning Weight EPD of +80 pounds and Bull B has a Weaning Weight EPD of +60 pounds. At weaning, Bull A’s calves will average 20 pounds heavier. A higher number is desirable.
Yearling Weight EPD (YW) - takes into account both pre-weaning and post weaning growth. Yearling weight is the most heritable of all growth traits. You can expect bulls with high Yearling EPDs to produce fast gaining calves. If Bull A has a Yearling EPD of +110 and Bull B has a Yearling EPD of +80, Bull A’s calves will average 30 pounds heavier than Bull B’s at one year of age.
Residual Average Daily Gain EPD (RADG) - expressed in pounds per day, is a predictor of a sire’s genetic ability for post-weaning gain in future progeny compared to that of other sires, given a constant amount of feed consumed.
Yearling Height (YH) - expressed in inches, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling height compared to that of other sires.
Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC) - expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.
Heifer Pregnancy EPD (HP) - is a selection tool to increase the probability or chance of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first-calf heifers during a normal breeding season. A higher EPD is the more favorable direction and the EPD is reported in percentage units.
Calving Ease Maternal (CEM) - is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires.
Milk EPD - expressed in pounds of weaning weight that result from the amount of milk produced by daughters of a particular bull, as compared to the daughters of other bulls. If Bull A is +30 for Milk and Bull B is +20, bull A’s daughters’ calves will weigh 10 pounds heavier at weaning due to her superior milking ability.
Teat Size EPD (Teat) - expressed in units of teat size score, with a higher EPD indicating a sire will produce daughters with smaller teat size compared to that of other sires’ daughters.
Udder Suspension (UDDR) - expressed in units of udder suspension score, with a higher EPD indicating a sire will produce daughters with tighter udder suspension compared to that of other sires’ daughters.
Functional Longevity (FL) - expressed in number of calves, is a predictor of the number of calves a sire’s daughters are predicted to produce by 6 years of age compared to that of other sires’ daughters. A higher EPD is more favorable direction indicating more calves produced on average.
Mature Weight (MW) - expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the difference in mature weight of daughters of a sire compared to the daughters of other sires.
Foot Claw Set EPD (Claw) - Expressed in units of claw-set score, with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire will produce progeny with more ideal claw set. The ideal target for claw set being toes are symmetrical, evenly and appropriately spaced.
Foot Angle EPD (Angle) - Expressed in units of foot-angle score, with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire will produce progeny with more ideal foot angle. The ideal targeting animals with a 45-degree angle at the pastern joint with appropriate length and heel depth.
Docility (Doc) - is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility. It predicts the average difference of progeny from a sire in comparison with another sire’s calves. In herds where temperament problems are not an issue, this expected difference would not be realized.
Pulmonary Arterial Pressure (PAP) - expressed in millimeters of Mercury (mmHg), with a lower EPD being more favorable indication a sire should produce progeny with a lower PAP score to decrease the risk of progeny contracting a high altitude disease most commonly experienced at 5,500 ft or greater in elevation.
Hair Shed EPD (HS) - a lower EPD is more favorable indicating a sire should produce progeny who shed their winter coat earlier in the spring. Selection for this trait should improve the genetic potential for a sire’s progeny to shed off earlier increasing the environmental adaptability of cattle living in heat stressed areas and producers grazing endophyte-infected (hot) fescue.
Carcass Weight EPD (CW) - expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Marbling EPD (Marb) - predicts the difference in average USDA marbling score of a bull’s progeny compared to progeny of another bull at a similar end point. The higher the value, the higher the amount of intramuscular fat (taste fat) in the ribeye, which positively affects quality grade.
Ribeye Area EPD (RE) - expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
ADJ 205 - Weaning weights adjusted to 205 days of age and for age of dam. Our calves are not creep fed and were weaned on forages with no grain. (Quality of recipient dams will affect weights of ET calves.)
ADJ 365 - Weight, scrotal circumference adjusted to 365 days of age.
%IMF - The amount of desirable fat or marbling in the ribeye muscle adjusted to 365 days of age.
ADJ Ribeye - Measured in square inches and adjusted to 365 days of age. Most heritable of all carcass traits.
PERCENTILE RANKINGS for EPDs and $Indexes allow you to see how the cattle in the sale offering stack up to any Angus (SimHybrid or Brangus Influenced) bull/female within their respective breed, not just those in our sale group.
Dollar value indexes, or $Values, are a tool used to select for several traits at once based on a specific breeding objective. An economic index approach takes into account genetic and economic values as well as the relationships between traits to select for profit.
Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), an index expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning. $M is built off of a self-replacing herd model where commercial cattlemen replace 25% of their breeding females in the first generation and 20% in subsequent generations. Remaining cull females and all male progeny are sold as feeder calves. Increased selection pressure on $M aims to decrease overall mature cow size and improve foot structure and fertility while maintaining weaning weights consistent with today’s production.
Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index expressed in dollars per head, provides the expected difference in future progeny preweaning performance from birth to weaning. $W assumes that producers retain 20% of their female progeny for replacements and sell the rest of their cull female and male progeny as feeder calves. Over time, increased selection pressure on $W will increase weaning and maternal milk traits while also continuing to increase mature cow size.
Feedlot Value ($F), an index expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning merit compared to progeny of other sires. The underlying objective assumes commercial producers will retain ownership of cattle through the feedlot phase and sell fed cattle on a carcass weight basis with no considerations of premiums or discounts for quality and yield grade.
Grid Value ($G), an index expressed in dollars per carcass, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit, including quality and yield grade attributes, compared to progeny of other sires.
Beef Value ($B), an index expressed in dollars per carcass, facilitates simultaneous multi-trait genetic selection for feedlot and carcass merit. $B represents the expected average differences in the progeny postweaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. This index assumes commercial producers wean all male and female progeny, retain ownership of these animals through the feedlot phase and market these animals on a quality-based carcass grid.
Combined Value ($C), an index expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and eventually sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid.
The cattle in this sale offering have all been DNA tested. Each lot will display a symbol for DNA testing on their pedigree. Those animals’ EPDs are GE-EPDs, meaning they have had a genomic test performed on a DNA sample from that animal, which provided additional information used in the calculation of their EPDs. American Angus Association Genomic Enhanced EPDs
• There’s little room for error in the cattle business. Producers need the most advanced information to make smart selection decisions, and Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI) provides it through genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs).
• GE-EPDs have become the industry standard for herd improvement, building on decades of science-backed genetic evaluation tools originated and maintained through the American Angus Association®, home to the largest and evergrowing single-breed beef cattle database.
• EPDs that traditionally contained all pedigree, performance and progeny information now also include results from available genomic, or DNA, tests. Breeders who use genomic technology give buyers access to AGI-generated GE-EPDs that provide:
• Increased predictability and decreased risk for young and unproven animals due to enhanced accuracy of EPDs
• Better characterization of genetics for difficult-to-measure performance traits (such as carcass traits, maternal traits and feed efficiency)
• The ability to make more rapid progress for traits that are important to you, due to:
> more accurate selection
>> easier identification of genetic outliers
>>> the ability to propagate young animals with confidence earlier in their lives
In fact, GE-EPDs on unproven animals have the same amount of accuracy as if they had recorded 9-35 calves, depending on the trait. That’s valuable insight, offered regularly through the breed’s weekly national cattle evaluation PEDIGREE
* It is important to note that genomics do not completely describe the variation in the traits of interest. Actual measurements collected by Angus breeders, such as birth, weaning, and yearling weights, ultrasound scan data, etc., continue to be an important part in further development of improved genomic panels, not to mention an important component in EPD calculation.
When making selection decisions for traits that have EPDs provided by the AAA, then the EPDs should be the selection tool of choice. The EPD and accuracy account for all sources of information available on the animal - pedigree, own record, weights/measures, and genomic results. Genomic test results include parentage testing, which helps pedigree accuracy.

We start the sale with your pick of two heifers that we consider the cream of our crop – one sired by Yon Saluda and the other by his full brother, Yon Southern Comfort. Their dam, Yon Witch J91, is the mother of Yon Top Sort, the herd sire selected by Justin & Sarah Spickler, in the Spring 2024 YFF Sale. J91 is an important anchor of our donor cow battery – her 3 natural calves have an average WWR of 110, and 2 yearling bulls averaged 112 at yearling, with average scan ratios of 128 and 126 for IMF and RE in large, competitive contemporary groups. These two heifers have POWERFUL EPD packages and excellent phenotype, typifying what we are trying to cultivate in the YFF program.

DO YOU OFFER FREE DELIVERY ON THE FEMALES?
No, we do not, at this time.
Why would you offer free delivery on the bulls but not the females?
There is an added risk. It is not safe to haul a baby calf, on the side of the cow, with bulls. Then they would need their own cut on the trailer and when we are attempting to deliver a couple hundred bulls, the logistics of safely transporting females complicates the trucking process.
Can you help me arrange for hauling females?
Of course, we would be happy to help arrange for hauling. We may be able to make arrangements within a few days of the sale. J ust ask at the clerks desk for assistance and we will be glad to help.

We start off our bull division with three stout sons of Yon Saluda, all who excel in performance and phenotype. Saluda is not a sire that JUST sends a few indexes and EPDs flying off the chart - he does SO MANY THINGS RIGHT. He is a bull that has seen wide acceptance across the country and is a true multi-trait game changer.

I can’t come to the sale, but I need a bull. Will you have some for sale after the auction? The two auctions we hold in October and February are the time to purchase bulls from us. These bulls are not picked over and the entire contemporary group that meets sale criteria is offered for sale, with none from the group being sold prior to auction day. There MAY be a few bulls offered privately between sales that were unable to sell in the auction for various reasons, but the selection and offering is limited. If you cannot attend the sale, we offer telephone, internet, and absentee bidding. Just give us a call before sale day and we will be glad to help work out the best way for you to get the bull you need.
Are the bulls Trich tested? PI BVD Tested? Fertility tested? All bulls selling are virgin bulls. Bulls over the age of 18 months on sale day, will be tested for Trichomoniasis two weeks prior to sale day. For states with different requirements, younger bulls can be tested prior to shipment. Bulls have been tested for persistent BVD, and will pass a complete breeding soundness exam before sale. South Carolina is a TB and Brucellosis Free State, and we participate in the voluntary SC Johne’s Disease control program, achieving the highest level possible in SC (JPL4).

Do you ever lease bulls? We are not able to lease bulls for use due to herd health considerations. How soon will my bull be delivered? We group bulls together by common geographical area and prioritize delivery, based on who needs their bulls the quickest. If for some reason you cannot accept your bulls when delivery is scheduled in your area, you will need to make arrangements to pick up here at the farm. It is extremely important when you check out that you give a date you need the bull by to help us schedule delivery appropriately. We also need your physical address and cell phone numbers. We attempt to have all deliveries made within a few weeks of the sale. Why don’t you offer delivery of females? We will make every attempt to help you with arrangements for delivery of your females. However, it is often not possible to safely transport any females with the bull deliveries, due to limited compartments in the trailer and the concerns of transporting pregnant females or small calves. If I have a problem with my purchase, what happens? Unfortunately, with animals, there are bound to be unexpected issues. Rest assured that we sell all animals “satisfaction guaranteed” and that if you are not satisfied for any legitimate reason for one year following the sale, you will be due a credit, refund, or replacement, provided the animal has been properly cared for. However, this is not a life insurance policy and we cannot guarantee against injury, lightning strikes, calving trouble, or calf mortality. It is our pledge to try to keep you as a satisfied customer and we will work with you to come to an acceptable resolution should any problem arise.
At Yon Family Farms, we realize our existence is dependent on our commercial customer’s success. When a commercial producer is willing to invest in excellent genetics and participate in value-added programs, his calf crop becomes more valuable and he should be rewarded. Simply put, if our buyers are willing to execute a bullet-proof calf health program and invest their hard earned dollars in our breeding program, we are willing to invest a segment of our time to help them market their calves. We make every attempt to network with buyers who are actively seeking cattle with documented performance in the feedyard and on the rail.
We look at the sale of your calves as your reward for hard work and investment. We encourage you to notify us when your calves are ready to sell, through whatever outlet you prefer, and we will notify potential buyers as we continue to work with feeders and packers that seek out YFF feeder calves.

SimAngusTM refers to cattle with the following characteristics: the animal is at least ¼ Simmental and ¼ Angus and no more than ¾ Simmental or no more than ¾ Angus; the animal’s parents are both registered in the database of the American Simmental Association; and the sum of Simmental and Angus blood in the animal is at least ¾; and no more than 1/4 of other breed.

API - All-Purpose Index Expressed in net dollars returned per cow exposed, evaluates Simmental sires being used on the entire cowherd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with a portion of the daughters retained for breeding and the steers and remaining heifers fed and sold on a carcass grade and yield basis. With the exception of shear force (tenderness), all EPDs are considered in this index.
TI - Terminal Index Expressed in net dollars returned per cow exposed, evaluates the merit of sires when bred to mature Angus cows and all progeny are fed and sold on a carcass grade and yield basis. Consequently, maternal traits such as milk, stayability and MCE are not considered in this index.
• First, determine which index to use; if you are keeping replacements use API, if not, use TI. Then, just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another.
• For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 head x 4 yr. = $6,000).
• A percentile ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed.
Ultrablack® cattle were first recognized in March of 2013. They are the product of breeding a registered Brangus to a registered Angus. To be recognized by the International Brangus breeders Association (IBBA) as an Ultrablack®, the animal must have between 50 and 87.5 percent Brangus genetics and the remaining percentage must be of registered Angus lineage.
Ultrablack® cattle have less ear and cleaner underlines but still possess the hardiness and sustainability of Brahman cattle. The benefits of Ultrablack® cattle make them increasingly popular among cattlemen. Producers typically seek Ultrablack®s for three reasons: (1) They need more pounds at payday. (2) Their cattle have become too hairy, in turn they are losing performance in terms of weight and fertility and are seeking something that will shed off. (3) They are looking to add to the maternal base of their cow herd.
For both Registered Brangus and Angus producers, it allows the opportunity to add new genetics that complement their existing genetic base to produce Ultrablack®s.

Rather than talking about this first pen of yearling bulls individually, let’s just say, collectively, they are likely the strongest set of yearling bulls we have ever offered to date. Flush brothers out of great young cows and sired by Yon bulls that are making their mark across the country. The quality is DEEP in these yearling bulls. Study the numbers and review the videos and we will be happy to answer any questions!

Yon Family Farms has a surplus of semen inventory on some great sires you can build a herd around! All of the following bulls were born and raised in our program and have seen extensive use in the YFF herd. This semen is priced to move ($10 - $18 per straw, with the exception, of Yon Future Focus at $50) and there is plenty of all on hand – at least 40 straws of each bull, with some up to several hundred units.
Contact us for a complete list of additional bulls, some from YFF, and some from other top breeders. Semen can be picked up at YFF if ordered in advance and a complete list of additional availability can be provided by email request.
ALL SHIPPING EXPENSES AND ARRANGEMENTS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER.
A high use sire for the past two breeding seasons at YFF, astute cattlemen from every region of the U.S. have used Saluda for his rare combination of traits and rich pedigree. As his progeny builds accuracy, he has lived up to his genomic predictions for making progress in multiple traits simultaneously. He has the unique ability to improve foot quality, Hair Shed, Heifer Pregnancy, Scrotal, PAP, and marbling while maintaining a modest birth EPD. Favorable teat, udder and FL EPDs are also found in his tabulation. His calves are shiny black at birth, vigorous, develop quickly and are consistently wide topped, deep ribbed, with extra base width and muscle shape.
Daughters are broody cow prospects, and his sons are masculine herd sires. Numerous progeny will sell in this offering and many females carry his service. Owned with Select Sires.
Yon Southern Comfort AAA 20336220
Thanks to Basin Angus Ranch in Montana for their recent purchase of an interest in Southen Comfort.
This full brother to Saluda excels as a multi-dimensional trait improver. He records an exceptional PAP ranking (one of the top 9 PAP sires in the breed) and a top 3% docility EPD. We have used Southern Comfort quite a bit, along with Saluda and other full brothers.
A Southern Comfort daughter is featured as choice of the lead off lot for the 2025 Maternal Roots female division. Owned with Pinhoti Ridge Farms, AL and Basin Angus Ranch, MT.

Yon Wrangler (Lane Smith Farms). Other maternal sibs serving as herd sires in Angus programs include Yon Hartwell (owned with FB Genetics)
Yon Patriarch K63 (owned with Branch View Angus)
Quite possibly the most unique and proven sire in the current Angus database. His impeccable EPD profile hits all the marks for profitability in maternal, management, and carcass traits. Top Cut is the only Angus sire in the breed who ranks in the top of the population for marbling and fat EPD, AND ranks in the top 1% for $M and $G, with a top 5% $C. Calves are deep-bodied, wide-based, sound and functional. Daughters in production are slick haired, broody with good udder quality and fertility. His dam has made her mark on the YFF program and has produced numerous sons in use across the country. Owned with Select Sires.

Owned with Hoover Angus in IA. In addition to the data package and soundness he exhibits, Landi says they have been impressed with his calm demeanor, high libido, and… he froze semen on his second collection at only 14 months of age. We have bred numerous females to Strong and he will see continued heavy use as we know the maternal strength on the bottom side of his pedigree coupled with his performance and Armstrong on the top side will make a winning combination.

Introduced into the YFF herd sire battery as soon as we got our hands on his semen, Classic checks the boxes for heifer pregnancy, claw, angle, hair shed and $M and $C, capturing the eyes of many a progressive Angus breeder. Backed by strong maternal roots, his dam is a productive young female with exceptional udder and foot quality. Expect Classic to bring performance to the table, while keeping mature weight and stature in check. Many females in this offering are due to Classic. Owned with ST Genetics.

A proven sire for low Birth-Weight genetics that has been used successfully on large groups of heifers. As more progeny data is recorded, his EPD profile continues to improve. He ranks in the elite top 10% of the breed for CED while maintaining a top 25% ranking for both WW and YW. Plan to keep his daughters for replacements as his proven maternal pedigree will add profit for years to come. COUNTY ROAD has been used in every region of the country and ranks high for both PAP and HS. He ranks near the top of the breed for both $M and $C indexes which confirms his ability to make improvement for multiple traits in one generation. He is the perfect choice for use on replacement heifers. Owned with Select Sires.
Chattooga has been around YFF for almost ten years and is still making plenty of valuable contributions serving as a senior herd sire. His daughters have made excellent cows, and his bulls are sound and stout. Three of his sons produced here have been strong sellers for major AI studs – County Road at Select Sires and Oconee and Chattooga H397 at Genex. He is co-owned with Deer Valley Farms in TN, where he has sired numerous top-selling progeny for that program as well. Chattooga’s dam is a true power cow, with over 100 progeny produced at YFF.
Yon Flagship is a guaranteed curve bender with sleep-all-night calving ease and spectacular growth. His calves are long-spined and have plenty of capacity and eye appeal. They are slick haired and offer both carcass quality and quiet dispositions. Flagship was the high selling bull of the 2022 sale, selected by Knoll Crest in VA, and now owned with Alta Genetics.

Owned with Genex Cooperative As stated in the Genex catalog, “H397 is a calving-ease, performance-minded growth bull with a unique combination of $M, $B, and $C. He blends the maternal power of the Yon program, combining the Sally, Hazel and Sarah cow families. His HP, docility, PAP (top 10%), and hair shed EPDs are a bonus. Use this big-time $M bull to infuse fertility and docility, while maintaining calving ease and performance”. He is the only sire in the breed with his combination of CED, WW, Docility, HP, $M and $C. He may be one of the most under-utilized, top performing bulls out there. We love our calves – he is multipurpose and is a ‘can-do-it-all’, kind of bull.
Cutting Edge is the sire of a strong group of coming 2-year-old bulls in this offering. Owned with Jud & Denise Baldridge & TWG Farms, he was the top Seller of the 2023 Spring Sale, This Top Cut son puts together a great combination of CE EPD, SC EPD, $M and $C Index. His young dam has done a phenomenal job at YFF, earning a WWR of 112/3 and a YWR of 116/2. His calves are quiet and put together some nice arithmetic on their EPD tabulations.
September 2024
Much of our region was impacted by Hurricane Helene in September 2024. Fences, stands of timber, and our pecan orchard were especially hit hard. Our entire family came together to replant a small part of the pecan orchard in March 2025, which we hope will be harvested by the same small hands that helped plant them for many years to come.
