Who have we supported?

After a very busy year of giving grants, we have been getting news of the impact these have made. There have been lots of messages thanking us for what we do and news of how some grants are spent and which are a work in, progress.

Following a theme started in the last newsletter describing how we change things, here are another pair of before and after pictures sent to us from the Peak District National Park If you are a walker you will certainly appreciate the gate instead of a rickety stile.

The Ecological Continuity Trust Student Grants.

Two new student grants have been awarded both of which are part funded by Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust and the Ecological Continuity Trust. In the world of grant funding most individuals and organisations have to find a series of financial sources.

Alexander Gray at Edge Hill University has received his award for consumables, travel and subsistence costs associated with his masters research into the impctof grazing on sleectedplant species in the rare grass land of dune habitat of Ainsdale Dune Slacks.

Brendan Beckett for the university of Manchester is receiving his award towards the costs of his PhD research into plant herbivore interactionsunder increased levels of Carbon Dioxide

Do you know a group who could benefit from a grant from Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust?

Look at the Ramble Worldwide Web Site for more information about applying.

Trustees meet four times a year to consider funding.

Manx Footpaths Conservation Group

We are working with this organisation to support them in building a bridge over a steam on a popular walk.

After some very pleasant weather the stream looks like it would be very easy to ford but as all walkers know a few hours of rain can make for a very different apearence and not being able to cross this stream blocks the whole walk.

Here is the situation at the moment as described by Alistair Lothian Chair of the Group:

Over the next three to four weeks the Engineer will survey the site and scope out the work required. Sometime after that the DoI will finalise the design and all going well work will progress thereafter

This does indicate that work has not begun but our Grant Manager liaising with the Group representative is monitoring plans closely how. We do this with every group as building good relationships is important to us

Cowick Royal Way

Do you ever get into East Yorkshire? If so, you might enjoy a walk that has been developed for you to explore this part of the world. The Vale of Snaith is not an especially well known area but this newly signed walk support by Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust will help you to find out more.

Partnership Working

Up to this point we have given 100 sets of waterproofs to organisations we support such as the North York Moors Trust, the Campaign For National Parks and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path Team. They have been much appreciated. Sometimes practical things make every bit as much of a difference as money.
