CHRISTMAS tradition AT RAFFLES
The Grand Hotel d’ Angkor with origins tracing back to 1932 showcases the grandeur of Ernest Hebrad’s French colonial architecture blended with Art Deco elegance reflects Alfred Messner’s pioneering vision of luxury travel. Under Messner’s
direction, the hotel captivated global explorers arriving by steamship and orchestrated Royal-sanctioned dance performances. One of his biggest achievement included unforgettable celebrations at Angkor Wat featuring “torch-lit dancers” that set the stage for contemporary events at the iconic heritage site. Notably, to mark Christmas in 1936, Messner illuminated Angkor Wat with a stunning display of light, music and dance, leaving a lasting impression.
Following this ritual, Raffles continues to host its highly anticipated annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, a cherished tradition that marks the official commencement of the festive season. Guests are welcome to partake in this event and to witness a Nordmann fir tree from Norway to be illuminated for the first time. The hotel will be adorned with sparkling lights, wreaths, and other festive decorations, all inspired by the classic Nutcracker theme, along with performances leading up to the holiday season.

Prepare to be dazzled by Cambodia’s fashion icons Eric Raisina and Ambre’s exquisite collections inspired by Tchaikovsky’s magical ballet, The Nutcracker. The couture designs will bring the iconic scores to life through delicate silhouettes that illustrate this dreamlike tale, promising an exceptional collection filled with elegance and wonder. Showcased in the Conservatory, guests are invited to explore Ambre’s recreation of the much-loved characters, Clara and the Nutcracker while Eric Raisina puts a spin on Uncle Drosselmeyer and Fritz Stahlbaum.
ERIC RAISINA
Growing up in Madagascar, Eric Raisina was inspired by vibrant colours and breathtaking landscapes. He excels in working with natural fibres to create handmade designs such as silk fur and raffia lace. Eric has collaborated with renowned designers like Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Lacroix and is passionate about the heyday of French couture from the 1920s. His collection features one-of-a-kind pieces and accessories that highlight his evolving talent and personal style.
ROMYDA KETH
Raised in Paris, Romyda Keth attended the Paris School of Fine Arts and Esmod School of Fashion Design before being offered a design position at Macy’s. In 1999, upon returning to Phnom Penh, she opened her first boutique, Ambre, followed by two more boutiques at Raffles Hotel Le Royal and the Grand Hotel d’Angkor. In 2000, she began working with a Parisian representative to launch her bridal line. Romyda’s elegant designs are defined by high-quality Khmer silk and organza, harmonious colours, and a feminine flair.

The Nutcracker SEASON IS HERE
An immersive exhibition from the Nutcracker will take place at the Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor. Transported into a winter fairyland with dancing snow maidens, the Raffles takes everyone on a magical journey of Christmas Eve dream. Experience the cast of characters on display, and discover how each of them tells a story and carries the legacy of this festive ballet that has been delighting audiences for centuries. ART & WINE WITH JIMMY KHONG OF TRIBE GALLERY
Explore an artistic journey with wine and gourmet canapé pairing as Raffles celebrates the debut of the talented artist, Jimmy Khong whose captivating works are prominently displayed at Kravan.
The “Return to Angkor” exhibition pays tribute to the artist’s Khmer heritage. From the beauty of its temples to the resilience of its people, Cambodia serves as an endless source of inspiration for Jimmy. In this deeply personal artistic realm, infused with poetry and spirituality, Jimmy carefully manipulates light and shadow to create expressive portraits. The precision of his brushwork highlights the features of his subjects, revealing their inner strength.
Curated by Tribe Gallery, the exhibition is available for viewing from 14 December through 15 January, offering attendees the chance to explore Jimmy’s artworks of humanity.
