Raed Arnaout -Architect and Urban Planner
A professional architect and urban planner with a master’s degree in design theory. Raed has 29+ years of progressive career experience working with public and private sectors in the MENA region. As a visionary and conceptual designer, Raed worked with award-winning architects, including Dr. Abdel Halim Ibrahim and Dr. Rasem Badran. He successfully participated in more than 30 design competitions. He delivered more than 70 projects, including urban planning and city branding, mixed-use developments, high-rise buildings, residential buildings, commercial and entertainment projects, healthcare facilities, and educational projects. Raed also worked with leading companies and interdisciplinary engineering firms in the MENA region and participated in many projects in collaboration with international design firms. In addition, Raed also collaborated with universities as an industrial professor, following up on graduation projects, teaching contemporary design theory, and participating as an external jury member. As a scholar in the field of contemporary Arab architecture and urbanism, he published his first book in 2009 about the evolution of identity and self-representation in Arab architecture and its relation to Orientalism under the title Orientalism in Arab Architecture - in Arabic - which was included in the long list of nominations for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award–the sixth session 2011/2012. He published his second book in 2023, which included more elaboration on urbanization and international expos experience and titled London, 1851- Dubai, 2021, Orientalism and the Quest for Arab Architectural Identity
