knowing where the pet came from and what experiences they went through can influence their behaviors today.

Nala is a female dog, adopted 6 weeks prior to this phone reading. She was hesitant to be affectionate or receive

affection from the family. I asked her why. She told me she didn’t want to get close since she wouldn’t be staying too long. She thought she was in just another foster home…

O

ne morning my husband of two decades asked me if I was pinching him while he slept. Although there were numerous times I would have liked to, I was not the culprit to his problem. Cubital and carpal tunnel syndrome were the cause of the nighttime pinching brought on from performing heavy manual labor for two decades. Multiple surgeries were the recommended solution.

Coming out of one of the surgeries, Husband was in pain that was incongruous with what he normally felt coming out of surgery. The hospital staff repeatedly injected him with dilaudid, morphine, dose after dose and nothing killed the pain. We were sent home saying to give it time where it just got worse.

Nothing killed the pain. No opiates. No nerve medication.

Nada. Husband was living in a level nine to ten pain twenty four hours a day.

For the next six years we tried to figure out the pain all while fighting an abhorrent workers compensation system. We tried repair surgeries, every pain management doctor and medication to get some relief with no improvement. Husband only left the house for his pointless, no solution, monthly doctor ap-

Husband and I had numerous serious talks of cutting off the arm to possibly eliminate the pain or suicide as the alternatives to trying to live the rest of his life in this type of pain. For most of my life, although I didn’t have a personal need for doctors, I believed if I needed one, they would have the solution. That was until I learned how many people are living with conditions doctors have no more answers to than my dog, much less solutions. I became disheartened by the medical system we have in this country.

One doctor quietly suggested I start doing some research on my own. So I researched the syndrome doctors claimed Husband had and syndromes with similar symptoms to Husband’s.

I read endless forums to find a solution. I researched the body and learned just how little I knew, but more disappointing was how little the doctors seemed to know. I felt completely let down by the entire medical system. Until one day a dear friend recommended trying a holistic chiropractor. This is how I began learning about western and eastern medicine.

Our first appointment with the holistic chiropractor opened up an entire new world to us. Was the pain gone when we left after one appointment? No. Was there a teeny tiny bit of relief? Yes. But was there now hope? Yes. Was there now a rabbit hole to find a solution? Possibly.

He was not one to want to drive in a car, have anyone touch him or spend money so when he requested follow up appointments, I knew there had to be something to it. Every practitioner asked us if we meditated so I learned everything I could about how important meditation is to healing so Husband and I started developing our own meditation practices as well.

One day in my hunt I came upon BOTI Studios (Beautiful On The Inside) in Anaheim and met the proprietor Lucinda Collis.

In addition to teaching me more about energy, Lucinda taught me the importance of developing a spiritual side for myself was just as important as the healing of the mind and body. Healthy practices in all three areas are necessary to be as healthy and pain-free as possible. e’ve all heard the expression, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”.

But what if you just can’t make lemonade in that moment?

At least not without some planning, preparation, and hav-

ing other products. Having a lemon doesn’t require you to have a plate or a cup or silverware. But to make lemonade, now you need additional things. You need a knife

to cut the lemon, a glass or pitcher to squeeze the juice into, and maybe even a strainer to strain out the seeds.

What does a visit for one of your patients look like when they come into your office? The consultation, where we ask what’s their chief complaint?

Are there any other health concerns, whether or not it’s

related to the reason why they came in? Because as you know, everything’s connected. What could be contrib-

uting factors? But most importantly, we ask them, “How does this affect their lives?”

Going Past Talk Therapy for More “A- Ha” Moments

Old fashioned talking therapy doesn’t change your brain; it simply reinforces the trauma that’s keeping you stuck.

Undoing this mess of bad brain programming takes time, and because Laura wants to change, she’s done all the heavy lifting. She’s healing.

hat does it mean for you to find your power?

Is your power your real heart desire?

Are you stressed in life? Do you feel stuck?

Do you feel good when other people let you know how good, rich, beautiful you are? These are wonderful compliments, but do you need them to believe in you?

If so then, once in your past you created a belief that you are not good enough, not worthy enough.

You started thinking if I had a lot of money or if I had that relationship my life would be so much better, and everything would change. With an assumption like that: I am not good enough (fear of failure). You are blocking the flow. Where is your power?

You see, you gave your power away to money, to a person, to a situation. But nothing changed. Once those beliefs probably were helpful in the past. It may have protected you once.

To change your life the first thing is, you must stop those beliefs. Here are 4 common negative believes: I am not worthy, I don’t belong, I am not capable, I am not good enough.

You are here at this time, at this place, in this body for a reason.

There is a big difference between creating the life you love, versus creating the life with no problem.

You are so much more than you see in the mirror.

You are a soul in a body. You are here to create.

The word relationship was first found in 1390. It means bringing back-restoring. Bring your relationship back to you. Remember who you are! One of my favorite exercises is from Eckert Tolle: Ask yourself: “Who am I?” And then ask yourself: “Who is asking?

Take your power and be the person you came to be here in this time on earth.

Work with your heart. Act from your heart. Find your power.

Your higher vibration can be used against your lower vibration.

t Buddhamouse Emporium, we encourage visitors to take their time. Enjoy being in the positive energy of

ritual objects, the beauty of crystals and art, and the peace of mind that comes from being in a sacred space.

Experts tell us that our health can be measured by the

patterns and frequencies of light we emit at a cellular level.

When we meditate and work with our energy we are increasing our vibration and thus our physical, mental, and spiritual

well-being. Unfortunately, life circumstances - both local and global - can be overwhelming. It has been my experience

that meditation and mindfulness is core to quieting the mind and reducing agitating thoughts. Though we are not always

able to change what happens to or around us, we most definitely can define how we respond.

When asked how to begin a meditation practice, I suggest

exploring the multiple methods available and landing on the

one that best suits your needs. Find what anchors you to the

present moment. It could be sound, smell, touch, sight, or even taste. By using our physical senses, we can connect with our

energetic selves and experience periods of time referred to as Samadhi. Samadhi can be defined as a moment of bliss where you feel completely connected to everything around you. For me, it feels like a dimensional shift where my body, mind, and spirit are liberated from all fears and desires.

Sometimes it happens completely by accident, like being in awe of nature, or it can come with time and practice. In

whatever way it appears, Samadhi can be life altering! As physical beings, we typically only experience it for short

periods of time because we must return to the responsibili-

ties of society and survival. However, with time and practice, we can work to create opportunities for longer and/or more frequent possibilities.

At Buddhamouse, we want to help you on this journey. We offer many spiritual tools such as singing bowls, crystals, ritual objects, books, and body adornment.
