Course Introduction
Course Introduction
Sociology of Aging examines the social aspects of aging and the diverse experiences of older adults in contemporary society. This course explores theories of aging, demographic trends, and the social, economic, and cultural factors that influence the lives of elderly individuals. Topics include the role of family and social networks, retirement, health disparities, ageism, policy issues, and the impact of aging populations on society. Through analysis of current research and case studies, students gain a deeper understanding of how aging is shaped by social structures and how societies adapt to an increasingly aging population.
