How to sign up and other FAQS

How to sign up to an activity

All activities which are not listed as a chargeable, invitational, or require an audition are easy to sign up to. Simply attend the activity on the scheduled day/time and you will be registered onto the activity by the activity teacher.

What if I can’t attend my activity one week?

If you can’t attend your activity then we ask and expect you to excuse yourself wherever possible ahead of the activity. You should talk to either the activity teacher, your Form Tutor/House Tutor/Head of Year or visit the Co-Curricular Office (Connors, Wimbledon) to confirm that you can’t attend the activity that week.

Can I swap or stop attending an activity?

Simply put, yes you can! However we encourage you to try the activity for a few weeks before swapping to a different activity. You should inform your Form Tutor or visit the Co-Curricular Office (Connors, Wimbledon) if you wish to swap to a new activity or cancel your participation in an activity. Please note, if the activity is a chargeable activity then we require one full term’s cancellation notice to be submitted by parents/guardians via the Parent Portal.

Auditions for school productions / ADA

Monday 9th September – 16:15–18:30 in Mitchell (Phoenix) – Auditions for students in Year 6-13 who wish to be involved in the QE School Show of Bugsy Malone.

Thursday 12th September – 16:15-17:45 in Mitchell (Phoenix) – Auditions for our senior school production, open to students in Year 10-13, who wish to be involved in ‘Dick Whittington’.

Friday 13th September – 12:50-13:55 in Mitchell (Phoenix) – Auditions for students who wish to join ADA (Academy of Dramatic Arts).

Wednesday 4th September – Instrumental & Vocal Tuition lessons start.

Monday 9th September – Combined Cadet Force (for existing Cadets only).

Tuesday 10th September – Off-Site Chargeable Horse Riding Activity for those who have completed rider registration forms (parents of enrolled students will receive a letter with more information soon)

Thursday 12th September – Off-Site Chargeable Golf Activity (parents of enrolled students will receive a letter with more information soon).

Saturday 14th September – King’s Academy for Performing Arts (for existing King’s Academy students and free trial for interested students).

Saturday 14th September - RAD Ballet (parents of enrolled students will receive a letter with more information soon).

Monday 16th September – Combined Cadet Force (existing & new Cadets).

Tuesday 17th September – Year 11 Cookery Club.

Wednesday 18th September – Off-Site Care Home Volunteering Activity.

Monday 4th November – Boys Cricket (Y7-13) Keepers Club.

Thursday 7th November - Indoor Rowing.

Thursday 7th November – Chargeable Fencing Activity (parents of enrolled students will be contacted with further information about this later start date shortly).

King’s Academy for Performing Arts

The above activities have a termly cost as they involve more advanced technical coaching or require external venues and instructors. We therefore must receive parent/guardian consent before you can start a chargeable activity. If you would like to sign up for one of these opportunities, please speak to your parent/guardian and ask them to log into the the Parent Portal and then complete the Annex H - Chargeable Enrichment Activities form or Annex GInstrumental/Vocal Tuition form.

Combined Cadet Force (CCF)*

Students can ask further questions at the Co-Curricular Office (Connors, Wimbledon) or visit the first CCF parade for new cadets on Monday 16th September.

Cooking

There are limited spaces for this activity so please email qeactivities@qe.org by Monday 9th September if you would like to sign up. You will then receive confirmation of whether you have a place this term or have been added to the waiting list.

Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE)*

A welcome talk will be held on Tuesday 10th September in the Lecture Theatre in Science and students will be required to complete an application form if they wish to enrol in the DofE.

ICDL (Digital Skills Course)

Motor Sport*

If you are interested in volunteering at a local care home, please email qeactivities@qe.org to express your interest by Monday 9th September.
