My selected window opening is located at the south west of the house as shown. Thus, the window opening will receive glared sunlight mostly in the afternoon and evening. Sun-shading device is one of the most efficient passive design to be implement in a building. As an architect, it is important to take consideration into such aspects in order for the building design to walk with the environment. As most of the time, user tends to install air-conditioned in bedrooms to increase their thermal comfort within the space. Therefore, a suitable shading device is crucial to shade direct sunlight and heat gain into the bedroom. Based on my situation, I would suggest a 1000mm (Width) x 3000mm (Length) horizontal panel slanting at 30⁰ to be installed at the window opening facing southwest. By installing such shading device, the heat gain into the space which is the bedroom will be decreased and thermal comfort can be achieved. The analytical studies of the proposed shading device is recorded as following:
