Thistaleofresilienceand determinationunfoldsaremarkable storythatnotonlydefiedoddsbut transformedaclubonthebrinkof obscurityintoabeaconofsuccess withintheToastmasterscommunity.

Atthebeginningof2023,Qatar MothersToastmasters,muchlikeany otherclub,hadhumbleaspirations. Ourmembersjoinedwiththehopeof enhancingtheirpublicspeakingskills, forgingconnections,and,perhaps mostimportantly,enjoyingthe exhilarationofdeliveringspeeches. Whatwedidn'tanticipate,however, wasthatthisyearwouldunfoldasa remarkablejourneyoftransformation. It'sastoryofperseverance,unwavering dedication,andtherelentlessspiritof ourmemberstoconqueradversityand seizeunforeseenopportunities.

Astheyearcommenced,Ihadlittle inklingofthetransformativejourney thatawaitedQatarMothers Toastmasters Ourfirstencounterwith ADRajendatademomeetingleftan indelibleimpression.Hiswarm demeanorandinfectiousenthusiasm capturedourattention,eventhough wewereunsureofhisroleasanArea Director.Littledidweknowthatthis encounterwouldsetinmotionaseries ofeventsthatwouldshapeourclub's destiny.

Inthemonthsthatfollowed,ourclub continuedtomeetregularly, progressingsteadilythroughvarious educationmodulesandspeeches However,aninvisiblehindrance loomedoverus:ourprogressonthe dashboardhadcometoastandstill It wasn'tuntillater,aroundFebruaryor March,thatourinteractionswithAD Rajendtookadeeperturn.Itwas duringthistimethatheextendedan unexpectedinvitation,onethatwould changethecourseofourjourney.

TheinvitationwastoleadtheEvaluation Contestforthearea aroleIaccepted withsomehesitation Uncertainabout whatlayahead,Iquestionedthefeasibility ofthetask.ADRajend'sresponsewas simpleyetpowerful,"Justdoit."Littledid Iknowthatthisphrasewouldbecome ourmantra,guidingusthroughthe unchartedwatersofourjourney.

Asthecontestdrewnear,ADRajend encouragedustotakeabolderstep competeinthecontest Thecatch?Most ofourmembershadn'tevenstartedtheir Level1pathways.Throughdetermination andunwaveringpersistence,Imanaged toconvincememberssuchasNisha, Salma,Tinu,Shirin,andShabunato participate.Itmarkedthebeginningof ourtransformation.

Withsheerdetermination,Imanagedto motivatememberstoparticipateinthe contest.Theresult?Anunexpected triumphasShirinandShabunaemerged victorious.Thisvictorymarkedaturning pointinourToastmastersjourney, reignitingourpassionanddrive.

Followingthisexhilaratingwin,Shirin andShabnaventuredtoparticipatein theDivEContests Theirunwavering dedicationandcommitmentpaidoffas theyclinchedthe3rdplaceinthe InternationalandMalayalamspeech categories,respectively.Whiletheymay nothaveadvancedtotheDistrictLevel, theirremarkableachievementshad alreadywontheheartsofthedivision. Theystoodasyoungchampionsofa fledglingclub,atestamenttowhat determinationandresiliencecan accomplish.

Althoughwehadchampionspeakers, wewerestillbehindinourDCPgoals. Withawholelotofmotivationfromour DivEDirectorDTMLakshmiSharada, wemanagedtoprogressinour membershipgoals. Wecontinuedto secureadditionalaccoladesatthe DistrictLevel.

TM Shabuna secured 1st place in Malayalam Speech Contest, TM Shireen secured 1st place in International Speech Contest, TM Amina was the Contest Chair for Evaluation Speech Contest and TM Alvia was the timer at the Area 17 contest

Whileourawardscountmighthave beenmodestcomparedtowellestablishedclubs,theseachievements heldimmensesignificanceforus.It wasaremarkablefeatforaclubthat hadbeenonthebrinkofobsolescence tonotonlysurvivebutalsoemergeasa triumphantcontender.

Thearrivalofsummerbroughtunique challenges.InJuly,mostofourclub membersembarkedonsummer vacations,leavingonlyahandful behind.Meetingscontinued,but motivationbegantowane.I,too, venturedawayandreturnedtofind just2-3membersremaining.We couldn'tevenholdasinglemeeting AmidannouncementsfortheSmedley Awardandincentives,despairbeganto setin Ourmembershiphaddwindled tojust12members,comparedto21in thepreviousterm Thesituation seemeddire,butIwasdeterminedto riseaboveit

Itookthedecisiontoannounceour OpenHouseforSep16th.Wewould holdameeting,andifwehadenough guestsshowinginterest,itwould becomeanopenhouse;otherwise,it wouldbearegularmeeting.This decisioncarriedtheweightof uncertainty,butitwasariskIwas willingtotake.

TheDivisionEExcellenceAwards arrived,bringingbothrecognitionand realization.Wereceivedawardsbased onnominationsfromImmediatePast DivEDirectorDTMLakshmiSharada. Theseawardshintedatapromising future,thoughourmembership numbersremainedfarfromthe requiredtarget.

PartofourEXCOMteamwasbackVPESalma,VPMAlvia,VPPRShabna andstand-inSecretarySeema.We conductedanimpromptumeetingand delegatedtheresponsibilitiesforthe openhouse inadditiontothesocial mediaposts,wereachedoutto influencerstoshareourposts Wegot featuredonsocialmediapagessuchas @newindoha@qatardaywith120150Kfollowers.Influencersincluding @affblogs,@mommy musingssand @banjarans lifestylesharedourflyers tosupport.

Ournewestmembers,AlWala,Alina, andSeema,tookoncrucialrolesand beganpreparationsfortheopenhouse. TMAlWalaintroducedaunique theme,"ThinkingOutsidetheBox: UnleashYourInnerSuperheroine Powers,"whichprovedengaging, interactive,andempowering The resultwastheadditionoftwonew members,TMSaniaandDDDEman, withinaweek.Thejourneycontinued asShahinasandTraptijoinedour ranks.

Ourjourneyhasn’tstoppedatmembershiptargets;we alsosetoursightsoneducationalawards.VPESalmaand Icompletedourprojects,achievingtwoDistinguished ClubProgram(DCP)goals.Ourclubnowboastsfive goalsonthedashboardasofSeptemberendandis alreadyaDistinguishedclub,comparedtotheprevious yearwhenwereachedDistinguishedstatusonlyinApril.

Succeedingasaclinicalpharmacistinmedicaland healthcare requires a range of core skills The role of a pharmacist is important. So, professionals who enter this field need to be well-trained and have good communication skills, multitasking skills, and analytical skills. For this reason, I took the opportunity to join toastmasters international to develop my skills and help my patients choose the best medicationfortheirneeds.Inaddition,toavoidanypotential drug interactions by having good patient-pharmacist interaction.

ToastmastersInternationalhadimprovedmycommunication skills Effectivecommunicationwithpatientsisessentialand improveshealthoutcomes TheWorldHealthOrganization (WHO)reportentitled“TheRoleofthePharmacistinthe healthcaresystem:preparingthefuturepharmacist” identifiedthepharmacistasa“communicator’’ More recently,theroleofthepharmacisthasbeenexpandingina patient-centeredway,makingcommunicationbetween patientsandthecommunityavitalcomponentofdaily practice.Goodcommunicationskillsareneededforcomplex activitiessuchasconductingmedicinereviews,motivating peopletoadheretomedicines,andhealthpromotion.

As a Clinical pharmacist, I need to have excellent analytical skills if I want a successful career over the long term. I improved my analytical skills as a toastmaster. I became more successful in assessing the condition of a patient and their medical history, which will allow me to deliver the best treatment plan. Moreover, I’ll need to be analytical when patients have problems with their treatment. In this instance, a highly skilled clinical pharmacistwouldneedtosuggestanalternativemedicine based on research to solve the dispute. As a clinical pharmacist, I need to approach my work with both an investigational and analytical mind and take a logical approach to my decisions. Above all, with the right balance of skills and knowledge, I can grow my career as apharmacistandbecomehighlysuccessful.

Multitasking is all about being able to switch between tasks with ease and efficiency, without sacrificing productivity. It is one of the important skills that I gained as an Excom member of the Toastmasters club. As an ExCom member, I was handling many tasks at once. On the other hand, as a healthcare professional, I will have to be a multifunctional person, many of which will have a direct impact on people’s lives. I’ll be developing medication plans, assessing the results of treatments, and advising patients about their medicines Therefore, pharmacistsneedtobeexceptionallyorganizedandknow how to handle different responsibilities and ensure dayto-daytasksarecompletedontime

On the whole, the biggest gift I surprisingly got from Toastmasters is the community Being around people who are similarly driven builds a safe space for you to fail and learn Toastmasters give you that You get to meet new people every meeting & Learning becomes more fun! The skills you learn early in Toastmasters will help youinmanyways Andthemoreyoucontinuetopractice and improve in your club, the more success you will experienceinyourcareerandreallife.

Fromthe1stmeetingofmytoastmasterjourney,Iheard thethunderousapplauseWhenachampionspeakerwas calledonstage,sincethenIstartedcravingforthe similarapplause.ThatwasthemomentIcommitted myselftobeachampionspeaker.Fourmonthsinthe journeyoftoastmasters,Iwasprivilegedtowinthefirst placeinareacontest,InternationalcategoryandIwas lookingforwardtodivisioncontest.Tomysurprise, 2monthspriortothedivisioncontest.Ireceivedmy positivepregnancyreport.

Asblissfulasthismomentwasforme,itwascombined withanxietyaboutmyparticipationinthedivision contest.Theeasiestoptionformewastoquitasmy conditionwasnotfavourable,however,my supportsystemwasextremelystrong,theywereofthe opinionthatIhavetoparticipateand winningisjustabuyproduct

Theysay behindeverysuccessfulman,thereisa woman Isaybehindeverysuccessfulwomanthereisa progressiveandunderstandingman.

Fortunately,Ihavetwoofthem,Myhusbandandmyson.Thesupportsystemthatyouhave,Ibelieve canmakeyouorbreakyou.Also,IwantedtosetanExampletomyunbornchild,Iwanthimto beproudofhismother.Idecidedtoparticipate.Istartedpracticingmyspeechinthemidstofbreathlessness, episodesofspewingevery30minutesandVertigotomakeitworst.

Asthedaywascomingcloser,myconditionwasdeteriorating.Onehourbeforethecontest.Myspewinggotworst.I couldhardlybreatheandIalsohadtheepisodesofvertigo,iwassoclosetoadmitdefeat.However,theundying commitmentIhadtowardsmydreamcompelledmetoreachthevenue AssoonasIreachedavenue,thewibe,the peoplearoundme Andmostimportantly,theapplausethatIwascravingfor,mademeForgetmyailment,my obstaclesandgavemetherightamountofzesttobeonthestage IdeliveredmyspeechandImanagedtograbthird placeintheInternationalcategoryofdivisioncontestthoughitwasnotawinforme IwasextremelycontentasIfulfilledmycommitmenttoparticipateinspiteofthechallenges Iurgeeachand everyonetocommittoyourdreams Dreamtoreachthesky,andyouwillatleastfallontheroof Afterafewmore attempts,skywillallbeyours.

A meeting that left an impact! Rightfully so, as the meeting was hosted by TM AlWala, Manager of Performance, Monitoring & Evaluation at Qatar Foundation, who evaluates impact and performance of programs and initiatives forNon-Profitforaliving!Shebroughttothemeetingthemostcreativeandimpactfulwayofgettingtheattendees to Think Outside the Box But not just outside the box, inside the box, and without a box too! How you may ask to know you have to be there to experience it In short, she engaged the audience with some thoughtprovoking simple activities which had the entire crowd participating and learning why and how you must get rid of anyboundariesthatmaylimityourcreativityandinnovation

Adding to the magic was the speech by Humor Queen TM Priya To the audience particularly new members TM Priyaseemedlikeasoft-spokenperson,probablyanotherguestlikethemselves But,asalwayswhenshetooktothe stage her storytelling captivated the audience Her mastery in humor blazed through leaving the audience gasping forairwithlaughterasshenarratedherstruggleswithEnglish&Algebra

To make the experience even more enjoyable Table Topics Master Shabna brought some unique topics for the gueststoparticipatewithandauniqueandfunwaytopickthespeakers

DTM Mani Roy, Division H Director graced the meeting with her presence and talked about “Why Toastmasters” She presented the perspective of a woman who left her career to take on Toastmasters as her full-time job! She highlighted the growth of women in toastmasters up the leadership ladder talking about World Champion Public SpeakingDTMNishaShivramandallthewinnersof2023beingwomen.

The icing on the cake was when DTM Mani showed the audience that the International President of Toastmasters this year is also a woman Morag Mathieson, one of the guests stood up and said, “I don’t know much about toastmasters, or what happens here but I want to be her!”, pointing towardsthescreenwherethephotoofInternationalPresidentwasshowcased.

TM Eman, Division D Director, also contributed to the success of the event with her enthusiasm, donning on the cape of a superhero which was the uniform of the hosting club members! The effect of the meeting was so impactful on TM Eman, that she is now a proud member and ChampionofourClub!

Gracing us also with his presence was District Director, DTM Ravishankar, who showed up despite several obstacles to support a budding club. His message to the audience was not just motivatingbutlefttheclubmembersfeelingabsolutelyproudthathetookthetimeouttovisitus. The highlight of the meeting was TMOD ensuring every attendee had donned the superhero pose tobeleftfeelingpositivelysupercharged!

Dream Team it is! Qatar Mothers Toastmasters brought another enthralling, power packed meeting with Meeting #24 President TM Amina took on the TMOD role to engineer her dream team! Starting the meeting with an ice breaker activity where the members worked together in teams for a quick challenge of building towers of paper cups without touching them, got the attendees connecting instantaneously with their team members The activity had quickly eased the feeling of unfamiliarity among the guests and we couldseemembersandguestsengaginginconversationsseamlessly

The prepared speech session was one filled with surprises as two new members TM Seema and TM Sania presented their icebreakerspeeches

TM Seema, a housewife who is only finding her way back into the work force enthralled the audience with her captivating and humorous anecdotes While TM Sania touched the audiences heart as she recounted her struggles to find her own identityamongthemanyrolessheplaysinherlife

Both the speeches encouraged the guests to join the community of toastmasters to be able to share their journey with a group of like minded people and the break time conversations were rife with everyone recounting their experience of listeningtotheicebreakers!

We had a guest speaker Nada Meeajan this session to present a Keynote session titled “Breaking the binary: Women Shaping the Future of Tech.” Being a woman in tech herself, as the Country Digital Acceleration Lead at Cisco Systems in Qatar,Nadawasthrilledtograbtheopportunitytospeakonthetopictohelpinspirewomen. She came with a ton of research and presented a truly though provoking session. The presentation left the audience with someeye-openingstatisticsaboutwomeninthetechworldandthekeytakeawaymessage:BeAuthentic,BeHappy.

After all the food for thought, TM Juhi brought a fun round of Table Topics with a twist engaging not one speaker but two at a time. She ensured no one felt like they were put onthespot.Insteadeachonecouldtakehintsfromtheirpartnerandprovideadifferent perspective on the same topic or continue with the thoughts of their partner. The creative Table Topics round ensured most of the guests could enjoy the experience of publicspeakingandnottheperils!

The meeting was evaluated by TM Najla, who always motivates Qatar Mothers Toastmasters with her positive commendations and recommendations whenever she visits

The meeting was also graced by the presence of District Club Growth Director, DTM Alar Mel Mangai, who joined as an Evaluator for the evening Through her critical and validfeedback,welearnthowtoevaluatetoelevate!

This definitely was an impactful meeting put together by the entire team of Qatar Mothers Toastmasters, from EXCOM to role players, to members who were present to support the club, displaying the spirit of camraderie that is being engineered one meetingatatime.
