Section 2

As my object is an egg cutter, it is in an oval shape to accommodate the shape of an egg. However, by observing the patterns of the egg cutter teeth, it is rather a dodecagonal section that is repeating in different sizes I decided to draw two sections to explore different patterns that is the teeth in the egg cutter created by geometric cutes

Scale 1:1

As the teeth are extruding from the base I has difficulty measuring it using ruler as the scale does not start at the end of the ruler. Hence, I decided to mark the height on a strong strip of paper then measure it using ruler. I used the same strategy while measuring the gap between the teeth and the side of the base

Analysis

This 45 degrees angle increases stability while plates are stacking on top of each other as it encourages more friction to form between each the top and the bottom of the plate, hence prevents sliding motion

This drawing displays the vertical stacking motion of the egg cutter when slicing eggs. I decided use a string to allocate each piece to be on top of each other with uniform vertical spacing between each of three plate and the base. This helps be to draw up this elevation

The bars in side the hollow plates are thicker at the top that aid cutting

Digital Model

Sketch Model

This expresses the potential effect

This model is constructed using paper and glue. Each strip of paper is rolled to form a relatively rigid bar, combining to configure into triangles. Essentially, the model is a repetitive pattern of combining four triangle vertically, horizontally and diagonally in a consecutive manner. Ultimately, this pattern circles around to from a hoop. This design is a combination of the three sketch design

Elevation 2

An alternate effect of this design is to isolate the person who is sleeping from other people. As the cover not only blurs what the user can see, but also obligate people from seeing who they are.

Sketch Design #2 [geometry__shapes]

Rubber sponge (silicone sponge)

Elevation

How does this respond to your personal space?

The cavity behind the frames moulds to the shape of the and and shoulder for support. This induce a sense of security.

Sketch Design #3 [Cuts__ cross] rope

Transparen t inflatable polyether

Elevation

How does this respond to your personal space?

Allow a sense of freedom while sleeping as the transparency still allow user to see their surrounding while sleeping.
