Horse Health
We provided services in spite of the pandemic, a testament to the commitment and dedication of the clinic’s staff and to their genuine love of horses.
Even when other equine hospitals in the region closed their doors to emergencies, our very own Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) continued to provide critical emergency medical services to horses throughout the pandemic.

The clinic is an international center of excellence in diagnostics, rehabilitation and training, and in research. In collaboration with the American School of Doha and Qatar University, EVMC creates engagement opportunities and placements for youth so that they consider pursuing careers in biomedical science.
7 cutting-edge research studies and 15 publications
maintained EVMC’s reputation for quality and innovation in equine health and care.

EVMC achieved several firsts in 2020 establishing the first Veterinary Surgery Residency Program in the GCC; using stem cells in the treatment of horses; and proudly publishing a study that identifies six predictors that determine the endurance horse’s ability to safely complete endurance races, races that range from 80 to 160 kilometers in the desert. Conducted in collaboration with Qatar’s Weill Cornell University and the Anti-Doping Lab, the goal of this endurance race study is to develop portable kits trainers can use on their horses before any race to avoid unnecessary strain, exhaustion, and even death.

The Equine Veterinary Medical Center provides unique volunteer and educational opportunities. The Foal Sitting Project had university students providing around-the-clock urgent care to critically ill foals during the first 24 to 48 hours of their lives. Studies show that physical contact and nurturing care aids in the recovery of critically ill foals.
