Come explore the new terminal San Luis Obispo Regional Airport officially opened their amazing new terminal! The new terminal project, a two-building, 56,000-square-foot facility, includes: ticketing lobby, baggage claim, passenger and baggage screening, toilet rooms, administration offices, support areas, waiting lounges and boarding areas as well as site improvements and airport apron construction. “I would like to personally thank everyone for their efforts this week (and many weeks before) to make our terminal transition go so smoothly. I have heard from numerous passengers and visitors about how impressed they are with the new terminal. You and your teams are to be commended for the extraordinary cooperation and teamwork that made all of this happen,” said Kevin Bumen, Director of Airports at San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport, following the opening of the new terminal in November. Throughout the project, the project team was setup in co-located construction trailers with the architect, construction manager, inspector, County, and Q&D personnel all together under one set of roofs. This promoted a collaborative environment and helped the Q&D team quickly and accurately work through over 200 plan revisions and 1000 request for information submit-
tals on this design-bid-build project. The Q&D team valued the importance of the client’s schedule and accomplished these changes and completed the project on time with the original schedule. The revisions Q&D proposed, such as lime treatment for existing soils and a redesign on constructibility issues, saved the client $400,000 on their project. Great job team SLO!
