Taking home her Teen Choice Award at the 2013 Fox Network event

RW: I'm so busy it's ridiculous! It's very satisfying. I'm very grateful and thrilled to be getting all these opportunities. Look at all these breakout female comedies people are really responding to...We need to work harder and have better jokes but Bridesmaids showed that women can be hilariously funny. QH: How excited were you about getting back to your now iconic role of Fat Amy in Pitch Perfect 2? RW: I couldn't wait to play her again. It’s meant so much to me in my career and it's given me the kind of recognition I might never have gained had people not responded to the film and to my character the way they did. I'm very proud of Fat Amy because she proclaims who she is and is the kind of person who just goes for it in life. ct L-R: Rebel Wilson with Pitch Perfe co-stars Anna Kendrick, Alexis Knapp and Brittany Snow

QH: Rebel, before we start talking about your work, can we ask you about your name. Did you take it from the David Bowie song, ‘Rebel Rebel’? RW: No, nothing as cool as that, although I should probably stick to that story. My parents decided to call me Rebel after a little girl named Rebel sang at their wedding. My Mum is really big on theme names like that – my sisters are called Liberty and Annachi and my brother is named Ryot. [Laughs] I think I actually did pretty well by comparison. [Laughs]

QH: Did you ever sing in any groups in school growing up in Sydney?

QH: Do you derive any added inspiration from your name? RW: I love it.You can't be a shrinking, timid little violet if you have a name like Rebel, now can you? It gives me an edge, something to rise up to, be different, not give in to your fears. I try to live that way. QH: You've managed to make your mark in Hollywood as one of its top comic actresses. How do you feel about your incredible success of late?

RW: I was actually part of an a capella group. It was called Twelve Boys because there were twelve girls in it. I was like yeah, how original. I went to a Christian school and so we'd sing church songs at people's weddings and funerals and stuff. They were kind of really pretty, but we'd have to wear these peasant blouses and these disgusting long velvet skirts. We were 15-year-old girls and we'd have to stand like this, kind of like what we do in [the original Pitch Perfect] in the Ace of Base song. We'd just be belting out these songs in the churches. At least it was good for singing. You got good practice. I was an alto in that group and in the Bellas I'm playing alto as well which is good.
