The next round includes baked asparagus wrapped in beef-bacon with a blue-cheese cream sauce, a platter of spicy tomato shrimp in rosemary oil with a chili, tomato and herb sauce, and a pot of jumbo mussels on a bed of salsa verde. The shrimps are large – more like jumbo prawns – with their succulent, sweet meat balanced by a fiery, acidic kick from the tomato reduction. The wrapped asparagus is also flavoursome though the cream sauce is a tad heavy, but complements the beef-bacon nicely. The mussels are large and plump and the salsa verde piquant. Before our mains arrive we finish up with a plate of marinated scallops with asparagus and capsicum purée, a tortilla spanola – a kind of Spanish potato omelette with Sofrito pepper sauce, and a trio of mini stuffed capsicums – all of which are lush.

companion also enjoys his Chef’s creation maki roll; having no specific name it’s a blend of delectable crabmeat salad on top with more tender morsels inside, next to a wedge of buttery avocado.

The highlight of the meal is undoubtedly the sushi. My poached lobster roll is stuffed with tempura shrimp, asparagus and avocado, and topped with delicate slices of sweet lobster meat with a Japanese mayo and balsamic drizzle. Six pieces don’t last long on the slab – this roll is too good to miss. My dining

If you’ve yet to venture over to The Grand Heritage, Blue is a good introduction. We were impressed with the quality and global arange of its menu, its bright ambiance and level of customer service. My other colleague is hunched in silence over his butter chicken, enjoying each bite of fragrant biryani rice, earthy Tandoori baked chicken and crunchy papadam. We finish this exercise in indulgence with a round of desserts that we barely have room for. Blue’s chocolate fondant cake is sinfully good – a perfect balance of crunchy, sweet cake with a molten chocolate middle and a side of vanilla ice cream, while their crème brûlée also takes home a gold start – velvety and custardy it hits the spot.

The herbed potato gnocchi is deep-dish comfort
