SPRING CITY-- An enthusiastic crowd responded warmly to four accomplished musicians who performed the inaugural concert with the new Yamaha grand piano in the Spring City Community Center ballroom on Dec. 7. David Cottam, a sophomore at Wasatch Academy, thrilled the audience with Albeniz’s highly rhythmic “Prelude to the Songs of Spain.” Rylee McKay followed with Beethoven’s stately “Sonata in D,” again with an appreciative response from the audience. Joshua Frischknecht, a senior piano performance major at Snow College, played half the concert himself, presenting a very thoughtful rendition of Beethoven’s “Pathetique Sonata.” His performance of “Fantasy Impromptu”, by Chopin, was hauntingly beautiful. Frischknecht also favored the audience with an arrangement of his own based on Chopin’s “Waltz in A

MT. PLEASANT-- R.L. Taylor and Charles McKay were honored Dec. 10, with a plaque recognizing their efforts to locate and restore a historic cabin which is now located at the Relic Home, 146 South State, Mt. Pleasant. In 2007, McKay and Taylor, with the help of a committee, identified a historic cabin located on the east side of Mt. Pleasant and proceeded in efforts to restore the cabin that had served as a home to several early day settlers of Mt. Pleasant. The Pioneer Association purchased the cabin for $1,200 and after much work to the cabin and creation of a
