Freshman Homecoming Attendant is Gracie Larson of Moroni. She is escorted by Hadley Williams of Fairview. Gracie is the daughter of Jason and Nicole Larson of Moroni. A fun thing about Gracie is that she starts listening to Christmas music every July. She enjoys piano, basketball, and her 100 pound “lap dog”. She is a loving daughter, sister, and friend. Toodle Lou-We Love Our Gracie Lou! Congratulations, Gracie! Sophomore Homecoming Attendant is Sunny Christensen of Fairview. She is escorted by Liam Mitchell of Wales. Sunny is the daughter of Barry Christensen of St. George and Carrie Christensen of Fairview. She is the youngest of three daughters. Sunny loves playing volleyball, and likes spending time outdoors. Caylee loves health and fitness, and is a member of the Cheer Team. She is sweet and kind and has the most gorgeous naturally curly hair. Congratulations, Caylee! North Sanpete student body, Senior Homecoming Queen for 2021 is Claircee Simpson! Claircee is the daughter of Nic and Brittany Evans of Spring City. She is being escorted by Hunter Price of Mt. Pleasant. Claircee loves dancing and being a part of the cheer team. She enjoys listening to music. She especially enjoys being DJ on bus trips and anytime she’s in the car. Claircee isn’t afraid of trying new things and works hard in everything she does. Congratulations, Claircee!

RIGHT and ABOVE: The fourth to sixth grade classes honored Sgt. Paul Lincoln Olmstead as the procession headed to the cemetery on Oct. 6. They lined Main Street and held flags as the procession went by. Most students never knew Lincoln, but still showed their respect. A fifth grader said it was very touching.

Manti Candidate Open National forest plans prescribed burns House set for Oct. 21

MANTI-LA SAL NATIONAL FOREST

PRICE — Manti-La Sal National Forest fire officials plan to implement their fall/winter prescribed burning program at several locations across the forest. These projects areas are located throughout Sanpete, Emery, Grand and San Juan counties. The planned projects include pile burning in areas such as Willow and New Canyon east of Ephraim, west of Scofield Reservoir, near Lowry Water, Dry Wash south of Ferron, and scattered locations across the Moab and Monticello Districts. Planned broadcast burning projects would include Trail Mountain west of Orangeville, Shingle Mill west of Monticello, and North Elk Ridge on the west side of the Monticello District. The USDA Forest Service prioritizes preparations for hazardous fuels reduction treatments to be ready to execute when weather conditions are right. Manti-La Sal fire officials plan to take advantage of favorable burning conditions beginning in October and continuing through early spring of 2022, depending on weather and resource availability.
