Jorgenson’s named grand marshals for Moroni July 4th MORONI — Mark and Paula Bailey Jorgenson have been named as grand marshals for the Moroni City Independence Day celebrations and will be in the Mammoth Parade at 10 a.m., on the 4th of July. Mark is the son of Richard and Fern Jorgenson and grew up in Ephraim. He was a member of the Utah National Guard for nine years and worked as a machinist until he retired. Paula is the daughter of Paul and Jewel Bailey and grew up in Moroni. During her lifetime she worked for Utah Power and Light and Moroni Feed Company until her retirement. Mark and Paula have been blessed with six children, Shane, Anna, Jed, Colby, Luke and Judy. In addition, they have 18 (almost 19) grandchildren. MT. PLEASANT — Why celebrate the Fourth of July on only one day? In Mt. Pleasant its more than just a oneday event, it’s called Hub City Days. It has always been a family affair, and the festivities include the Skyline Freedom Fest, a golf tournament, Rodeo Family Fun Night, Mountain Man Rendezvous, two days of RMPRA Hub City Rodeo, a 10k/5k Fun run, carnival rides, parade down State and Main Streets, early bird breakfast in the park, food, games, entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display. June 28-29 First up is The Skyline Freedom Fest Eventing which jumps things into gear on Friday and Saturday, June 28-29, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., each day, for two full days of competition at the Cleone Peterson Eccles Equestrian Center and ConToy Arena, 1000 South 955 West. Best of all, parking and spectator admission is free. Eventing features an equestrian triathlon, where horse and riders tackle three phases of competition, dressage, show jumping and high speed cross country jumping. On Saturday, June 29, the annual
Hub City Days Golf Tournament tees off with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m., and first tee-off is at 8 a.m., at Skyline Mountain Resort Golf Course. The tourney is a two-person scramble. The golf course is located 4.5 miles northeast of Mt. Pleasant on the Mountainville Highway, which begins at 200 North in Mt. Pleasant. For information call the pro-shop at (435) 427-9575. July 2 Tuesday, July 2, at 7 p.m., there will be a free rodeo family fun night in the outdoor Mt. Pleasant Rodeo Arena, just east of the city park. This event includes barrel racing, stick horse race, hide race, dog race and musical tires. Interested participants can sign-up prior to the event from 5-6:45 p.m. No late entries taken. July 3-4 Wednesday and Thursday, July 3 and 4, visitors will be able to experience the excitement of carnival rides and vendor booths with fun, food, crafts and RMPRA rodeo. MORMON MIRACLE PAGEANT BREAKS RECORDS
Attendance to the last season run of the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti broke all-time records with an estimated 156,000 attendees during the eight nights of the pageant. Becks’ named Hub City Days grand marshals MT. PLEASANT — Mark and Laura Beck have been named as grand marshals for Mt. Pleasant’s 2019 Hub City Days and will lead the Mammoth Parade Thursday, July 4, at 11 a.m. Mark and Laura Beck have both lived in Mt. Pleasant all of their lives. Ancestors from each of their lines have lived in Mt. Pleasant since its original founding. The names of several of their ancestors are listed on the Pioneer Monument in front of the Mt. Pleasant City Library, 24 East Main Street. The Becks’ were married in the summer of 1976 in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Moroni celebrates Independence June 29-July 4 MORONI — A full slate of activities are scheduled this year during the Moroni City annual 4th of July celebration including co-ed softball, volleyball, car show, the famous BBQ turkey dinner, fun run, fireman’s breakfast, flag ceremony, the airplane ping pong ball drop, Mammoth parade, carnival, races, basketball shoot-out, entertainment and spectacular fireworks show. June 29 On Saturday, June 29, the annual “Stars & Strikes” Co-Ed Softball Tournament will take place at the Center Street Ball Park, 200 North Center Street.
