Miss Mt. Pleasant scholarship pageant set May 18 MT. PLEASANT — Five beautiful and talented young ladies will compete for the 2019 Miss Mt. Pleasant title. The pageant will be held Saturday, May 18, at 7 p.m., in the North Sanpete High School Auditorium, 390 East 700 South, Mt. Pleasant. Tickets are available at the door. “We have a great group of girls this year for the 2019 Miss Mt Pleasant Scholarship Pageant,” says

Pageant Director Jerry Kelso. “It takes a lot of time and effort to prepare for a pageant, and we feel these five young ladies have worked hard to be prepared. This year’s winner will replace current Miss Mt. Pleasant Ally Brotherson.” Each of the five contestants will be judged in four areas of competition, private interview, lifestyle and fitness, talent and evening wear/ on-stage question.

The five 2019 contestants are: Lissette Mendez Lissette is the daughter of Marilu Zamudio. She will do a video presentation of herself performing cheerleading stunts. Her platform is “Encouraging Young Women to develop Self-Confidence.” Eneli Silva Eneli is the daughter of Osbaldo and Sandra Silva. She will recite a French poem entitled “Le Cor-

beau et Le Renard” By Jean de la Fontaine. Her platform is “Beyond Type One.” Kylena Akauola Kylena is the daughter of Vern and Michelle Akauola. She will perform a Jazz dance routine “Hallelujah, I Love Her.” Her platform is “Art Heals”: The Importance of Art. Mashaylie Burnside Mashaylie is the daughter of Preston Burnside and Natalie Burnside.

She will perform a Hip Hop dance to “MIC Drop.” Her platform is “Age affects the body not the soul.” Isabelle Hightower Isabelle is the daughter of Mark and Wendy Hightower. She will do a video presentation of her accomplishments in track and field. Her platform is “Helping children and families that have extended stays at Primary Children’s Hospital, local hospitals, and shelters.”

PLEASANT — A traveling exhibition entitled “They Painted in the Canyons,” that chronicles Utah’s prehistoric rock art will be exhibited Friday, May 17, to Thursday, June 13, at Hub City Gallery, on the second floor of Mt. Pleasant City Hall, 115 West Main Street, open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free. Accompanying educational materials are available. North Sanpete Arts is sponsoring the Utah Arts & Museums’ Traveling Exhibition which features 24 photographs by Utah State University professor Craig Law. These photographs are a small selection of images included in a greater documentary project called the BCS Project run by law and project director, David Sucec. RMPF donates funds to support Rural Senior Adult Services New art exhibition at MT. PLEASANT — Rocky Mountain Power Foundation (RMPF) representative Cullen Erving recently delivered a $2,500 donation to Rural Senior Adult Services (RSAS). This is the third donation that RMPF has given to RSAS. About RSAS Rural Senior Adult Services (RSAS) is a charitable organization that gives cost-free in home assistance to home-bound or vulnerable senior adults age 65 and older in Sanpete County. Services include companion care to build self-esteem, light housework, creative activities such as art, crafts, knitting, crocheting, socialization, reading books, computer training or repair. No health services are provided. Careworkers visit at least twice a month and in some cases ev-
