RICHFIELD — North Sanpete High School sent its best and brightest to Richfield High School last Tuesday, March 5, to compete in the annual Sterling Scholar competition. The Deseret News founded the Sterling Scholar program as a way to recognize the hard work of those students who do go above and beyond in leadership, citizenship, and service. Students apply for Sterling Scholar and are selected by faculty to compete in the program. Participants go toe-to-toe with other scholarly individuals from high
schools in their area. Winners of the program receive $2,500 and runners up receive $1,000, as well as scholarship opportunities from local Utah colleges. The prestigious competition calls for students with high GPAs, high ACT scores, and heavy involvement in community and school activities.
