Watch the sky turn white at festival Fairview Delta snow goose event set for end of February DELTA — It’s a sight you have to see to believe: Thousands of geese lifting off Gunnison Bend Reservoir amid honks and the beating of wings. If you want to see the incredible spectacle yourself, head to the annual Delta Snow Goose Festival later this month. The festival, hosted by the Delta Chamber of Commerce, will be held Feb. 26-27 at Gunnison Bend Reservoir, west of Delta. Part of the festival includes a free snow goose viewing event hosted by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. As many as 20,000 geese — mostly snow geese — have been at the reservoir during past festivals.
You can see thousands of snow and Ross’ geese at this year’s Snow Goose Festival.

The Pyramid
Cheney’s Chocolates comes to Mt. Pleasant Library The Mt. Pleasant Library hosted a chocolate dipping workshop on the evening of February 10th, 2021. With Valentine’s Day
right around the corner the presentation by Lori Cheney Chambers kicked off chocolate lover cravings in more than a dozen spectators who attended. “The heavier the cream the better” was advice that came from Lori Chambers when speaking of
making fondant. Chambers uses vanilla fondant as a base recipe for flavored fondants such as raspberry, coconut, lemon and penoche. The fondants are chilled, and hand coated with dipping chocolate, a process which she demonstrated at the library
workshop where spectators were invited to chocolate-dip their own fondant. Chambers calls hand dipping “a lost art” since not many candy producers do hand dipping anymore. Please see CHOCOLATES, Page A6
SALT LAKE CITY — Rocky Mountain Power is making it easy to show some love this month in the form of helping struggling families, many who have been impacted by the pandemic, stay warm and safe. The company will match every dollar you donate to the Salvation Army’s Lend a Hand Program with $2 more, which helps limited-income customers keep their lights on and their homes warm. Last year, Rocky Mountain Power donations helped more than 1350 Utahns in need throughout the state. “We appreciate our customers’ generous support for this great program,” said Lucky Morse, Rocky Mountain Power director of community relations. “These donations help the elderly, disabled individuals and struggling families in our community.” Customers who receive their bills by mail this month will find a Lend a Hand contribution envelope included. Those who pay their bills electronically can request a donation envelope and send a check or enroll in the fixed donation program. The program allows customers to donate any dollar amount, starting at $1 per month, which is then incorporated into their monthly bill. Fixed donations will also be matched 2-for-1 by Rocky Mountain Power and customers can call 1-888-221-7070 to enroll and/or request a contribution envelope. All donations are forwarded directly to the Salvation Army, which verifies eligibility and allocates funds to those in need. Customers who need bill assistance themselves can call Rocky Mountain Power representatives at 1-888-2217070 to get help with payment plans and be directed to other agencies that may assist them.
