MANTI—The Manti Tabernacle has been vandalized with green spray paint that was discovered on the morning of Friday, Jan. 24, according to the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office. Several letters were spray painted on the west and south faces of the building, affecting a total of six to seven locations on the tabernacle, located at 90 South Main, Manti. The Sheriff’s Office investigation is following up on several leads, but no arrests have been made as of press deadline. Anyone who has information regarding this event is encouraged to call the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (435) 835-2345.

TeleHealth oncology service now available at SVH MT. PLEASANT — Intermountain Sanpete Valley Hospital (SVH) is helping to support patients in the community by providing an extra level of support to cancer patients through the use of telehealth technology that will enable patients to be treated close to home. Sanpete Valley Hospital is now offering Intermountain TeleHealth Oncology services to local patients, including onsite chemotherapy treatments and consultations with Intermountain Healthcare’s team of oncologists and cancer experts from Intermountain Cancer Center. From early detection to treatment, including chemotherapy and care planning, Intermountain oncologists and specialists will collaborate with local caregivers to provide individualized support and medically-advanced care via video technology, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances to receive care. Historically, patients had to travel to Southern Utah, Utah County, or Salt Lake County for their cancer care and treatment. Now, through the TeleHealth Oncology service, patients can be screened, receive their care plan, treatment and recovery – all close to home. “Our goal of the TeleHealth Oncology service is to provide on-site chemo treatments, through advanced technology, meeting the oncology needs of our patients, to assist them in being successful in managing their condition,” said
MANTI— Anthony Jeffery Christensen, who was scheduled for trial by jury in February, has changed his not guilty plea and has now pled guilty to murder and obstruction of justice during proceedings Jan. 21, in Sixth District Court, Manti. Christensen has been charged in the death of Kammy Mae Edmunds, his girlfriend and mother of two children. Edmunds was found dead in a Mt. Pleasant home in March 31, 2017, where she lived with fiancé Anthony Christensen. According to police, the evidence at the scenes involved did not support Christensen’s explanation of how the events occurred and he was arrested on April 1, 2017. SCF Fun on the Farm Reading Challenge announced MANTI—This year’s 2020 Sanpete County Fair (SCF) includes a Fun on the Farm Reading Challenge that is open to all children in 201920 school year grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Those who read 25 books from January — August 2020, and bring their completed Reading Challenge Form to the Thursday night, Aug. 27, rodeo grandstand gate, during the 2020 Sanpete County Fair, Manti; will earn free admittance to attend the rodeo. Download the Reading Challenge Form (if needed) from the Sanpete County Fair website at: https:// sanpetecountyfair.net/event-information. Each participant must follow the following rules: • Open to children kindergarten-fifth grade for the 2019-20 school year; • Children must read twenty-five (25) books of any length but must be of appropriate age/ability; • Books counted must be read by child- not teacher, parent, librarian, guardian or other; • Books counted may be read from
January through Aug. 27, (Thursday night rodeo); • Each book title must be initialed by a parent, guardian, or librarian. Incomplete entries cannot be accepted and the form must be completely filled out to receive a free entry into the Thursday night rodeo at the Sanpete County Fair. • Children must bring their completed Reading Challenge Form with required initials to the Thursday night rodeo, Aug. 27. The form will be collected at the gate and a hand will be stamped to gain free entry into the rodeo. Each form is good for one child admission to the Thursday night rodeo. Only one entry per child. Free admission does not include people accompanying the child. • The Reading Challenge Form is only valid for the Thursday night rodeo and is not valid for entry into other fair events.
