Dear Girls Soccer Players, Families, Friends, and Supporters,
Fall 2025
About 400,000 high school girls in the United States play soccer, and here at St. Paul VI Catholic High School we are blessed to cheer on about 55 of those female student-athletes each fall season! Our players excel in the classrooms, on the field, and in our community. What they are asked to do is not easy, and yet our Lady Panthers work tirelessly to hone their soccer skills and share their God-given talents. They do so as a team, upholding the tenets of our Catholic school mission and inspiring the extraordinary in others.
World-renowned soccer star, Mia Hamm, noted “My coach said I run like a girl, and I said if he ran a little faster he could too.” It is a pleasure to cheer on our student-athletes and share in their joy as they compete. Many thanks to their head coach, Chris Campbell, and all of our assistant coaches, parents, family members, and friends for supporting our girls soccer program. Looking forward to an amazing season as our Lady Panthers continue to grow in grace and wisdom!
Go Panthers!
Peace and blessings,
Laura Swenson Head of School

But in particular.... Chuck

Wishing everyone in the Girls Soccer Program a successful season. We love you.

Best of luck to our Sadie, her teammates and the GSOC family in her senior year and final season of PVI SocCer!

Welcome to the 2025 soccer season! We are very excited and proud to have Chris Campbell for his fourth year with the girls soccer program. We are blessed to have dedicated coaches leading our student-athletes. Coaches who teach accountability, understand and encourage academic success, and work hard to build great teams based in faith. Coaches who are “teachers” and Christian leaders with character and integrity make a tremendous difference in the lives of our children. Teaching our student-athletes to be respectful and accountable is teaching them to be successful in life. We are also very fortunate to have such a strong network of support from our alumni, boosters, parents, school staff, and our overall community. No doubt about it…PVI is truly a special place.
It is critical to recognize the value that athletics have as a part of the educational process, our mission and our ministry. As a college-prep school, we strive to run athletic programs that combine the right amounts of ability and desire to move to the next level in the athletic experience. A major focus of our athletic program is to help our student-athletes develop lasting life skills to use as they move on in college, in a career, as productive members of society, as husbands and wives, and as parents. When you surround a child with the gospel, discipline, integrity, and truth, you can make a difference in his or her life forever. That is the core of our mission. It is easier to build boys and girls, than it is to mend men and women.
Finally, I'd like to remind all of our spectators to be "good sports." Let the coaches coach and let the players play. Create a positive environment for all involved, a place student-athletes and parents get the most out of their experiences. One where winning isn’t the only thing. One where opponents and officials are never taunted or humiliated. An environment where the emphasis is on positive relationships and learning important life lessons through hard work, competition, and faith.
It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the Director of Athletics at PVI. I am humbled by our community’s sense of togetherness. We are truly ALL IN! #ALLINPVI.

William H. Emerson III, RAA Director of Athletics

Coach Campbell is in his fourth year leading the PVI Girls Soccer program, arriving at the school ahead of the 2022 season with 25 years of head coaching experience at the high school, club, Super-Y and WPSL levels, having coached hundreds of student-athletes. His coaching experience includes developing teams for Loudoun Soccer, Southwestern Youth Association (now Virginia Valor), and Old Dominion Football Club with both girls and boys teams. He brings academy and development-level coaching experience through U-21, is a USSF-licensed coach, and holds various coaching certifications and diplomas.
Coach Campbell spent three years as the first head coach of the Cesena USA Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team competing with teams across the Eastern US with college players from local universities, as well as five years as the head coach for the NoVA FC/Virginia Alliance Super-Y team, starting with U-13 girls. In the spring, Coach Campbell is the Head Varsity Coach of the Freedom High School Girls Soccer program in Loudoun County. PVI Girls Soccer won the 2024 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) Championship, the fourth time in program history. Coach Campbell was named the 2024 Virginia High School League Coach of the Year and the 2024 Washington Post All-Met Coach of the Year. In addition, Coach Campbell was named the DC Pigskin Club Coach of the Year and was one of four finalists for the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Sportsperson of the Year. Coach Campbell has been recognized as the VHSL District Coach of the Year, Loudoun Coach of the Year, and Region Coach of the Year several times (most recently in the spring of 2025 when his Freedom team returned to the Virginia High School League State Final Four).
His 2024 Freedom High School team won the Virginia Class 6 State Championship (with a 23-0 record, ranked #1 in the DCmetro area by The Washington Post and #11 in the US by the US Soccer Coaches Association, the only undefeated team in Virginia and one of only two undefeated teams in the USSCA Top-25 rankings nationally), scoring 123 goals while conceding only seven.
Coach Campbell has coached three finalists for the Virginia Gatorade State Player of the Year, one Gatorade State Player of the Year (2024), dozens of All-District players, dozens of All-Region players, and handfuls of All-State and All-Met players (including First Team All-Met players and an All-Met Player of the Year).
Coach Campbell's players have gone on to continue their soccer careers at D1-D3 colleges including Bridgewater, Christopher Newport, Florida, Georgetown, George Washington, Hamilton College, Hofstra, Howard, Ithaca, LSU, Mary Washington, Ohio State, Penn State, Radford, Rensselear, St. John's, Seton Hall, Shepherd, Tampa, UNCG, UNCW, Winthrop, York College, and other college programs.
Coach Campbell and his wife Lori live in South Riding, VA. They have four adult children, all who have played their sport at the collegiate level, and one granddaughter. Coach Campbell has a degree from the University of Virginia and heads a marketing strategy consulting firm, nxtMOVE, based in Northern Virginia.

Coach Kim Kammerdeiner — Varsity Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coach
Now in her sixth season at PVI, Coach Kammerdeiner brings over 35 years of coaching experience and a legacy of excellence. An NCAA National Champion at George Mason (1985) and member of the 1991 U.S. Women’s World Cup-winning team, Kim is also honored in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame.
She’s coached at every level—from youth to national programs— and most recently led goalkeeper development for McLean ECNL and Academy. In addition to being a part of the 2024 WCAC Girls Soccer Championship at PVI, Coach Kammerdeiner also serves as Varsity Assistant Coach at Freedom High School, where she helped guide the girl's team to a 2024 Virginia Class 6 State Championship.
Off the field, she’s a proud mom of four and grandmother to four amazing grandchildren.
Coach Brooke Longo - Head JV Coach
Coach Longo is in her third year on the PVI Girls Soccer staff. She played soccer at Frostburg State University for four years, and has coached multiple levels throughout her career. She coached ten years with Champion Soccer Training while she was a graduate assistant at Frostburg State University.
Coach Longo works in Loudoun County as a professional firefighter/EMT and is a fitness and wellness coach for the LCFD. She is very excited for the PVI season!

Coach Noelle Nicholas — JV Assistant Coach
Coach Nicholas is in her second year with the Girls Soccer program at PVI. With over 10 years of coaching experience, she has worked with a range of club and academy programs including Southwestern Youth Association (now Virginia Valor), New River United, and Soccer Academy. She also teaches biology and sports medicine at PVI. At Virginia Tech, she studied the science of human nutrition, foods and exercise.
Fun facts: She was a four-year collegiate athlete; however, she was the HokieBird mascot, not a soccer player. Coach Nicholas has experience working with professional sports organizations such as the NFL, NHL and MLB. You just might catch her at your favorite DC sports games!

Coach Sarah VerdisRecovery, Mobility, and Nutrition Coach
Coach Verdis is a high school health and physical education teacher and varsity soccer coach. She has been in education and coaching for ten years. In addition to being a part of the 2024 WCAC Girls Soccer Championship at PVI, she is also the Varsity Assistant Coach of the Freedom High School Girls Soccer program which has won consecutive VHSL Cedar Run District Championships, VHSL Region 6B Championships, has appeared in two State Final Fours, and won the Virginia Class 6 State Championship in 2024.

Coach Verdis specializes in post-game recovery and mobility training for athletes utilizing her background in physical education, personal training (she is a certified NASM trainer), and yoga. Coach Verdis is in her fourth year with Paul VI Girls Soccer and she is excited to be a member of the Panther Family!

Coach Natalie McCarthyStrength and Conditioning Coach
Coach McCarthy is a PVI Class of 2016 and PVI Girls Soccer alumna, NSCA strength and conditioning coach, and former all-conference collegiate soccer player at York College. Coach McCarthy played club soccer for Coach Campbell during her high school years. This is her fourth year on the coaching staff at PVI. She works full-time for the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and has a background in business and communications. Coach McCarthy is excited to be a PVI Panther again!

Coach Mandy Ronay - Mindset Performance Coach
Coach Ronay enters her 25th year of coaching with experience as a Division I athlete, college coach, and now Mindset Performance Coach. A former two-sport athlete at Robinson High School in Fairfax, she went on to play Division I basketball at West Virginia University before coaching at William & Mary and Syracuse.
Over the past few years, Coach Ronay has supported multiple high school teams throughout Loudoun and Fairfax counties, not only helping them perform better and more consistently on the field, but also in life. Now in her second season at PVI, she is super excited and grateful to be part of such an amazing program!
