Los pueblos originarios de Patagonia y Tierra del Fuego navegaron durante miles de años con sus canoas de corteza de árbol por estos territorios y junto a sus campamentos costeros fueron generando los conchales, que eran depresiones circulares formadas por montículos de concha. Los establecían en puntos que les permitían entender: el clima, el flujo del viento, así como el comportamiento de los animales.

La idea de la representación de estos “conchales” a partir de la copia de conchas y su posterior reproducción en piezas de porcelana en grandes cantidades, es lo que genera la posibilidad del artista de establecer un rescate conceptual rindiendo homenaje a estos pueblos y a su sentido de reciprocidad con la naturaleza.

CONCHALES (SHELL MIDDENS)

The original peoples of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego sailed for thousands of years with their tree bark canoes through these territories and next to their coastal camps they were generating the shell middens, which were circular depressions formed by mounds of shells. They established the camps at points that allowed them to understand the weather, the wind flow, as well as the behavior of the animals.

The idea of the representation of these “conchales” from the copy of shells and their subsequent reproduction in porcelain pieces in large quantities, is what generates the possibility for the artist to establish a conceptual rescue paying tribute to these peoples and their sense of reciprocity with nature.
