BRAVO, BITTERROOT!
After the success of a local performing arts series in 2004, organizers who wanted to keep the energy going founded the Bitterroot Performing Arts Council with the mission of establishing a stable, thriving arts community for generations to come. After 20 years, they have certainly achieved this and more. If you appreciate the performing arts, you’ll find your second home at the Hamilton Performing Arts Center, within Hamilton High School, an intimate 700-seat proscenium theater with near-perfect sight lines and all the latest in acoustic technology. The council works tirelessly to bring a wide spectrum of the performing arts to residents in the Bitterroot, from a virtuoso violinist to a traditional Québéquois trio. Recently, this stage has seen performers from Cuba, Germany, Hawaii, and more. In addition to curating a symphonic season, the council also supports educational outreach for youth during the school year, including comedy and dance workshops. In a town with a deep ranching legacy, the arts have made their home as well.
