Mauritius Beach Holiday

Just a four-hour flight from Johannesburg brings you to the idyllic island of Mauritius. Sheltered from the open sea by the world’s third largest coral reef, Mauritius offers natural, clear lagoons and pristine beaches. The exquisite levels of luxury and attention to detail throughout the resorts on the island, make this the perfect beach holiday destination for families, honeymooners and those just seeking a place to recharge.

KwaZulu–Natal Coastline

Flanked by the warm Indian Ocean, the region also has areas of vast, unspoiled beaches and coastline teeming with nature. In Maputaland, a great number of turtles inhabit the waters and breeds include the Leatherback, Loggerhead, Olive Ridley, Green Turtle and Hawksbill. There are a number of lodges in the area located beside the endless coastline welcoming families, couples and honeymooners as well as those looking for a remote wedding location.

Train Journeys

In South Africa, two train operators, Blue Train and Rovos, operate luxury train journeys connecting some of the sub continent’s most famous attractions in absolute comfort. They offer journeys through the heart of Africa combining some of the most magnificent scenery with the glamour and excitement of the golden age of rail travel. One of the most popular routes crosses from Pretoria in the North East to Cape Town in the South West, taking in the remarkable Kimberly ‘Big Hole’ enroute, a reminder of the area’s mining heritage.

Whale Watching

Every year, between June and November, the small coastal town of Hermanus becomes the mecca for whale watching enthusiasts. The Southern Right whales make their annual journey from the Antarctic to the south coast of South Africa, stopping in the food rich warm waters of Walker Bay to both mate and give birth. The World Wildlife Fund has named this area one of the best places in the world to view whales as not only can you view the whales via local guided cruises and kayak trips, but from land as well along a 12km long cliff top with numerous prime vantage points.
