Gradually, people’s living habits began to change, the younger generation chose to live with their small families. The need for furnishings was greatly raised by this change. With streamlined manufacturing processes and improved transportation and storage capabilities, Ler Liong Kim expanded his market presence. In order to increase sales, he visited furniture retailers with photographs of all the products. After collecting all the orders, he would then proceed to purchase the necessary furniture from the manufacturing factories.
Later on, Ler Liong Kim expanded his wholesale territory to include Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Terengganu, Kelatan and even Singapore. His inventory encompassed a wide range of furniture, from small items like mattresses to essential household furniture. He stated, “Although we import a small portion from abroad, the majority of our products are sourced from local furniture manufacturers because different regions have different living habits.”
As the furniture industry matured and the market offered a diverse range of styles and price points, local furniture businesses switched their sights to global markets.
