SPORTS/TECH Instructor: Mr. Moreau Mondays and Fridays 4:00 – 6:00 This was definitely one of the most popular afterschool classes last year! It combines both sports and technology. Students will have access to a computer lab to work on projects, homework, create fitness/athletic charts, etc. They get to vote each class on what activity, sport, or game to play. It could be football, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, bocce, ultimate Frisbee, and everyone's favorite, pickleball! It's always a productive afternoon of getting work done while having fun with friends. Come and participate!

TURNING A SPACE INTO A PLACE Instructors: Mr. Gormley and Steven Weldon Mondays 4:00 – 6:00 JSEC is undergoing a lot of changes this year! We're working on another project to improve our world even more, but we need your help. Take this class and we'll figure out the best way to use the land on the west side of the building. Should it be a garden? An outdoor classroom? An open space to meditate? All of the above? Come help us decide and then create a space that everyone can enjoy. Maybe we can even install the peace pole, we just created, there. We'll need you to be construction managers, grant writers, web designers, landscape designers, agriculture specialists and many more roles! This is a collaborative effort that will have a positive impact on JSEC and all its future students. (COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS COURSE.)

THE GEEK SOCIETY

This is a geek/arts club whose purpose is to introduce you to a wide variety of artistic and geekish experiences. Our goal is to have outside geeks/artists come in to show you what they do. We will have the occasional movie day or non-traditional game days as well. We also host the famous GEEKfest! Primarily this is YOUR club, if YOU are an artist, geek, dweeb, or, weirdo or you want to be…we're here for you! The group will formally meet the 3rd Monday of each month. Don't worry, we'll remind you! No need to register for this. Listen and watch for announcements.

GEEK SOCIETY: Geek-Write

This is a non-traditional writing group where writers and idea people meet. We will be individually and collaboratively writing and sharing short stories, poems and maybe even longer work. We'll only meet formally the 1ST Monday of each month to share what we are doing and to brainstorm where we should go with our stories. Mostly we will be writing and sharing online at http://geeksociety.snappages.com. One person may start a story and anyone else in or out of the school will contribute to move the story along. Outside writers including JSEC grads will show up online to add their ideas. But WE are the backbone of this group, WE are the geeks who write! Our goal? To publish a Geeks-Write anthology by this spring. No need to register for this group since it officially meets so infrequently.
