A culture of high expectations requires a safety net of support and we have an effective pastoral system to provide exactly that. All of our students are ably supported by their form tutor and our Achievement Coordinators, highly skilled and dedicated staff members who hold responsibility for students’ welfare and progress. This system is built on our core principle of getting to know each child as an individual so that we can best support them and help them to achieve their goals.

Our child has had unparalleled support, respect and understanding. They have outstanding educational opportunities and exceptional teachers.” BOHUNT HORSHAM FAMILY 2022 “ Highest expectations 8

The Bohunt

We believe that our commitment is not just to our students but to their families; before your child starts at Bohunt Horsham we will involve you in school life with events to welcome you and to support you in getting your child ready to join our community. We work with our families for a common goal, to help raise children who have the skills and knowledge as well as the characteristics they need to go out into the world as happy, safe and successful adults.

As a new school at the heart of a thriving and vibrant community, the voices of our founding families have been instrumental in shaping our direction and our decisions since before we even opened our doors. In the summer of 2019 we formed our first Bohunt Horsham Parent Reference Group, a community of parents and carers who are willing and able to give some of their time and energy to support the school and to help ensure communication between home and school is excellent. The Parent Reference Group is a vital part of the school and we value the input and dedication of its members. Bohunt has surpassed my expectations. My child’s confidence is so much higher and they feel listened to and noticed and rewarded for their hard work!”

Unparalleled opportunities

Highly qualified staff offer exceptional experiences outside the curriculum and beyond the school gates. Students are challenged to work things out, take risks and experience new ideas, emotions and activities. A focus on expressive arts and culture encourages all students to become adept and confident communicators. Guided reflection on how actions impact others and how to improve in the future develops teamwork, leadership skills and resilience.

Current examples include:

• An outdoor classroom to embed outdoor learning as an expectation for all students. We also offer an extensive outdoor experience programmes including Bushcraft and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

• Annual ski trips.

• Opportunities to perform at events such as local festivals, school musicals, variety shows and weekly school assemblies.

• Dance, Language and Sports Leaders Awards.

• Cross-Trust opportunities and pioneering activities, such as education experiments.

We recognise that some of our students will need support in building the confidence to feel able to take part in these experiences and are committing to helping all of our students to gain that level of courage. We are also committed to supporting families for whom these activities may be financially prohibitive.

12
The relationships between students and staff and the routines and expectations of students are two of the biggest strengths at Bohunt Horsham.”
BET VISITOR 2022 “ 13

We opened our doors to 120 students in Year 7 in September 2019 while our brand new, purpose-built school was under construction. Since those first days, we have been unwavering in our high expectations. Our new school is an expansive green fields site, with excellent facilities in all areas of the curriculum including sports, technologies (including a robotics laboratory), expressive and performing arts, an outdoor classroom and shared specialist teaching spaces designed for safe and effective use by students across educational phases. We offer a broad range of extracurricular clubs, visits and experiences, as we have from day one. Horsham has teachers who are enthusiastic and genuinely care about the pupils. The students are in an environment of safety and acceptance where children can happily grow to their full potential.”
