CONNECTIONS

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO GATHERING ON CELEBRATION SUNDAY ON SEPTEMBER 10 AND FOR MIDWEEK AT PROVIDENCE RESUMING SEPTEMBER 13!

Up Front

FALL KICK OFF

Join us from 5 – 7 p.m. in the parking lot near the gazebo as we reconnect and share in fellowship with our Providence family. Dinner, trains, games, and dessert will be available from 5 – 6 p.m. … stay to watch the fun at Yuck Night beginning at 6 p.m.!

YUCK NIGHT

A messy game night to remember for our Student Ministry! Invite your friends and meet at the Gazebo on September 6 at 6 p.m. for the wildest night of the year! Make sure to bring a towel and a change of clothes, too.

From the Senior Pastor

Midweek at Providence resumes on September 13—and this year, it looks a little different.

We’ll still have dinner together in Fellowship Hall. Children and students will still have age-appropriate time for music and missions. Adults will still have opportunities to learn and grow as followers of Jesus. None of that is changing.

But our Midweek at Providence schedule will look different because, well, everyone’s schedule looks different these days. Post-pandemic, nearly all of us have rearranged some habits, reconsidered some commitments, or reassessed some priorities. We’re more discerning about how we spend our time and energy. These are all signs of health.

With that in mind, our Midweek schedule reflects the changes that

we’ve noticed in how Providence people approach the faith formation. If we want all our children, for example, to become familiar with the Bible, learn to care about missions, and worship God through music, then it makes sense for us to teach biblical literacy, missions education, and worship arts when the greatest number of Providence children are on campus. When is that? Midweek.

Likewise, we’ve noticed that Providence adults want to engage in quality discipleship programs, but can’t commit to every session of a multi-week seminar. With that in mind, we’re structuring our Midweek adult offerings around a thematically-diverse weekly rotation of Pub Theology, Book Club, Do Justice, and Midweek Vespers.

CELEBRATION SUNDAY

Let’s celebrate a new year of Faith Formation classes together on September 10! Refreshments will be available outside the Rotunda beginning at 8:45 a.m. Looking for a class to join? Contact Blake Kendrick at bkendrick@providencebc.org for more information!

Adults can now plug in when they’re able, without worrying about falling behind if they miss a week. Our goal is to make Midweek more accessible to more people because we believe that good ministry, good fellowship, and good learning make us better followers of Jesus. We also believe that the more time we spend with one another, the stronger our community becomes— and we all need to be part of a strong community where we are welcomed, known, loved.

So, I invite you to join me this fall for Midweek at Providence. It’ll be different—and that, I think you’ll find, is a good thing.

May the peace of Christ be with you!
