NOVEMBER 2023

CONNECTIONS

From the Campaign Co-Chair Embracing Today and Preparing for Tomorrow For several weeks, we have been on a transformative journey of faith and generosity. In worship, Faith Formation classes, and informational meetings, we have heard about the needs of the church and considered the renewal that we seek – both in our facilities and within each of us. We have prayerfully considered what each of us is being called to do in connection with Generosity Plan 2024 and the Restore & Renew Campaign. It’s now time to make our financial commitments. Generosity Plan 2024 will fund the regular, faithful work of Providence in 2024, which is the foundation of what we do together in Jesus’ name. As we, through prayer, seek to determine the amount we are called on to give in 2024, the Stewardship Committee reminds us that every gift matters, because every gift represents an offering for – and an expression of trust in – God, who is the giver of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17). Those who came before us built the facilities in which we now worship,

learn about Jesus, and experience fellowship with one another. Like our own houses, the house of God needs care and attention – and frankly some love – from time to time. It’s now our turn to prepare our facilities for the next generation. The Restore & Renew Campaign seeks to raise $3 million over the next three years for restoration and renewal of our church facilities. Almost every area of our facilities will be touched in some way. Some will be visible (such as creating a more welcoming entrance to the Activities Center), but many will be invisible (such as replacing the HVAC units in the sanctuary and the Child Development Center). Ten percent of the funds we raise will benefit our primary Missions Partner, Families Forward Charlotte, whose mission is to partner with families experiencing poverty to achieve lasting economic growth. For a complete list of the projects to be funded by Restore & Renew, please visit our website at providencebc.org/ restore-and-renew/.

Both campaigns are important, but it is most important for each of us to maintain or increase our giving to our annual Generosity Plan. Please do not decrease your regular annual giving in order to make a contribution to the Restore & Renew Campaign. The Restore & Renew contributions should be over and above your regular giving. Please bring both your Generosity Plan 2024 and your Restore & Renew commitment cards to the church on or before November 19. Following the worship service on November 19, please join us for lunch in the Fellowship Hall to be held in appreciation of the financial commitments that will have been made. Through this journey, may the Lord restore and renew each one of us, aligning our hearts and resources with the Lord’s own generous, gracious heart. May the peace of Christ be with you!
