การเรี ย นภาษานั้ น ในบางครั้ ง อาจทำ � ให้ นั ก เรี ย นเกิ ด ความอาย หรือไม่กล้าสื่อสาร กิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ เช่น การเล่น ละคร หรือการแสดงบทบาทสมมติ ทำ�ให้ผู้เรียนได้ฝึกฝนการใช้ ภาษาผ่านบทบาทสมมติ หรือบทบาทของตัวละครนั้นๆ ครูทาง ด้านภาษาต่างรู้คุณค่าของการเรียนรู้ภาษาผ่านการแสดงละครเป็น อย่างดี ซึ่งยังไม่รวมถึงประโยชน์อื่นๆ ของการเรียนรู้ภาษาผ่าน ทางการแสดงละครด้วย ทั้งนี้เพราะการเรียนรู้นั้นเผยให้เห็นแง่ มุมต่างๆของมนุษย์ และประเด็นการแลกเปลี่ยนต่างๆ ซึ่งกัน และกัน เช่น ระยะห่าง เวลา ความสนใจ ข้อมูล ความคิด ซึ่งทาง โรงเรี ย นสาธิ ต แห่ ง มหาวิ ท ยาลั ย รั ง สิ ต ก็ ไ ด้ ใ ช้ ป ระโยชน์ ใ นการ เรียนรู้ ผ่านการแสดงละครในระดับที่ก้าวหน้า คือจัดการแสดง ละครเพลงภาษาอังกฤษเป็นประจำ�ทุกๆปี
Learning a language can sometimes be intimidating for shy students. Activities such as drama and role plays allow students to practice language in an atmosphere removed from their own persona. All teachers know the value of drama to offer training in speech. What is not obvious are the abstract benefits derived by using drama in the classroom. It reveals aspects of the human condition and students soon realize the importance of space, time, attention, information and even ideas. A further initiative we have taken at SBS in this direction is performing our annual school musical entirely in English.

STORY OF
“THE LION KING” The Lion King : The Broadway Musical celebrated its world premiere at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, MN, on July 8, 1997. This is a musical based on the 1994 Disney animated film of the same name with music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice along with the musical score created by Hans Zimmer with choral arrangements by Lebo M. The Lion King is the story of a young lion prince living in the flourishing African Pride Lands. Born into the royal family, cub Simba spends his days exploring the sprawling savanna grasslands and idolizing his kingly father, Mufasa. When an unthinkable tragedy, orchestrated by Simba’s wicked uncle, Scar, takes his father’s life, Simba flees the Pride Lands, leaving his loss and the life he knew behind. Eventually companioned by two hilarious and unlikely friends, Simba starts anew. But when weight of responsibility and a desperate plea from the now ravaged Pride Lands come to find the adult prince, Simba must take on a formidable enemy, and fulfill his destiny to be king. 3
