EVERY SINGLE NIMBUS LED luminaire EVOLVES FROM THE SAME DNA
EVOLUTION BY DESIGN ORIGINALS BY NIMBUS Bereits 1999 untersuchte Nimbus Möglichkeiten, die damals noch junge LEDTechnologie sinnvoll für Lichtlösungen in der Allgemeinbeleuchtung einzusetzen. Die darauf folgende Grundlagenentwicklung und unterschiedlichste Technologieund Machbarkeitsstudien setzten einen revolutionären Gestaltungs- und Designprozess in Gang, aus dem 2006 die völlig neuartige Modul Q 36 hervorging. Dieser Archetyp der minimalistischen LED-Leuchte trägt bereits die typischen und weltweit einzigartigen Designmerkmale in seinen Genen, die prägend werden sollten für das breit gefächerte Nimbus LED-Leuchtenprogramm. Diese Nimbus DNA findet sich sowohl in den weiterentwickelten Leuchtenfamilien wieder, wie auch in den gleichzeitig radikal neuen wie evolutionären Gestaltungsansätzen der Squeeze und Roxxane Leuchten. Aus der technologischen und formalen DNA der patentierten Kegelsenkungen wurde für diese Leuchten der Softlight Diffusor für noch weicheres und gleichmäßigeres Licht entwickelt. Auch wenn die neuen Nimbus LED-Leuchten sowohl formal wie auch technologisch neue Wege aufzeigen, stammen sie in unterschiedlichen Evolutionsstufen von der Modul Q 36 ab und sind damit echte Nimbus Originale. Back in 1999, Nimbus examined ways of effectively using the then young LED technology for light solutions in general lighting. The subsequent fundamental development and the various technology and feasibility studies set a revolutio nary design process in motion, which, in 2006, brought forth the totally innovative Modul Q 36. This archetype of minimalistic LED luminaires bears those typical and globally unique design features in its genes which were set to characterise Nimbus’ wide-ranging LED portfolio. This Nimbus DNA can be found both in the further development of the luminaire families as well as in the radically new yet evolutionary design approaches taken with the Squeeze and Roxxane luminaires. The technological and formal DNA of the company‘s patented conical indentation were the starting point for the de velopment of the Softlight diffuser, which enables these luminaires to emit an even softer and more uniform light. Although the new Nimbus LED luminaires go new ways in terms of form and technology, they originate in different stages of evolution from the Modul Q 36, which makes them genuine Nimbus originals.

So geht auch die, in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Berliner Designer Rupert Kopp, völlig neu entwickelte Roxxane Leuchtenfamilie keinerlei Kompromisse ein. In einem intensiven, fast zwei Jahre dauernden Gestaltungs- und Entwicklungsprozess ist so ein professio nelles Lichtwerkzeug mit hochintegrierter Technik entstanden, in das die gebündelte, langjährige Nimbus LED-Kompetenz eingeflossen ist. Form und Technologie gehen bei Roxxane eine perfekte Symbiose ein. Sehr puristisch wirkend, gestaltet sich die Roxxane bei genauer Betrachtung als komplexes High-TechProdukt mit faszinierenden technischen Besonderheiten: Drei exakt aufeinander abgestimmte und fein kalibrierte Friktionsgelenke ermöglichen es, die Leuchte leichtgängig in jede gewünschte Position zu bringen. Der Leuchtenkopf kann zudem um 270° geschwenkt werden und bringt das Licht exakt dort hin, wo es gewünscht wird. Souverän gelöst wurde auch die Bedienung der Leuchte: Durch die intuitive und berührungslose Gestensteuerung erhält der Anwender genau das Licht, das seinen individuellen Ansprüchen gerecht wird. Despite its puristic appearance, upon closer inspection Roxxane reveals itself to be a sophisticated high-tech product with fascinating special technical features: Three perfectly coordinated and finely calibrated friction hinges allow the user to easily move the luminaire into any desired position. BERÜHRUNGSLOS / TOUCHLESS Als erste LED-Arbeitsplatzleuchte bietet die Roxxane eine berührungslose Gestensteuerung zum ein- und ausschalten der Leuchte. Durch den flächenbündig eingelassenen Infrarot-Sensor lässt sich die Leuchte zudem auch intuitiv in zwei Modi dimmen. Eine leichte Wischbewegung über dem auf der Oberseite des Leuchtenkopfes integrierten Sensor reicht aus, um die Leuchte ein- oder auszuschalten. Einfach die Hand über dem Sensor schweben lassen und die Leuchte dimmt auf die gewünschte Helligkeit. Ein winziges LED-Positionslicht zeigt im dunklen Raum die Position des Gesten-Sensors auf der Leuchte an. Bei ausgeschalteter Leuchte „atmet“ die Positions-LED langsam auf und ab. In eingeschaltetem Zustand dimmt die LED analog mit der Leuchte ab und auf und zeigt so den Dimmzustand an. Roxxane is the first LED workplace luminaire to offer touchless gesture control to switch the luminaire on and off. The flush recessed infrared sensor allows intuitive dimming in two modes. A slight wiping motion over the sensor integrated on top of the head of the luminaire is sufficient to switch the luminaire on or off. Just let your hand hover over the sensor and the luminaire dims to the desired brightness. A tiny LED position light shows the position of the gesture sensor on the luminaire in a dark room. When the luminaire is switched off, the position LED slowly “breathes up” and down. When the luminaire is switched on, the LED dims and brightens along with the luminaire itself, thereby showing the dimming condition.

NEUE BEWEGUNGSMECHANIK / NEW MECHANICAL MOTION SYSTEM Die Leuchten der Roxxane-Serie überraschen mit einer neuartigen Bewegungsmechanik. Erstmals kommen bei einer LED-Tischleuchte sehr fein kalibrierte und daher leichtgängige Friktionsgelenke zum Einsatz, die man auch aus dem Bereich der Medizintechnik kennt. Die besondere Funktion dieser aufwändigen „Dreh moment-Scharniere“ beruht auf dem Reibungsprinzip, welches dem Anwender der Leuchte eine weiche, angenehme und bisher nicht gekannte Gleichmäßigkeit beim Bewegen der Leuchte vermittelt. Die aus hochwertigem Zinkdruckguss gefertigten, langlebigen Friktionsgelenke halten die Leuchte präzise und spielfrei in jeder gewünschten Position – ganz ohne sichtbare Federn, Seile oder störende Hebel. The luminaires in the Roxxane range surprise the user with their innovative mechanical motion system. For the first time ever, very finely calibrated and easily manoeuvrable friction hinges have been used in a LED table luminaire, the same type of hinges used in biomedical engineering. The special function of this sophisticated “torque hinge” is based on the friction principle, thanks to which the user experiences a gentle, pleasant and hitherto unknown evenness when moving the luminaire. The high-quality, long-life friction joints made of die-cast zinc hold the luminaire in any desired position – with a high degree of precision, free from play and with no visible springs, wires or intrusive levers.

HIGH TECH IN Kühlen KÖPFEN / HIGH TECH IN COOL HEADS Neue Wege im Thermomanagement: Roxxane hat einen „kühlen“ Kopf. Dies betrifft nicht nur die enorme Flexibilität, sondern auch das darin enthaltene, neu entwickelte System für eine perfektionierte Kühlung. Die Kühlung ist das zentrale Thema bei LED-Leuchten – von ihr hängt maßgeblich ab, ob die außergewöhnlich lange Lebensdauer und Effizienz der Leuchtdioden gewährleistet werden kann. Im Kopf von Roxxane steckt eine einmalige und neuartige Lösung in Form einer ausgeklügelten Miniarchitektur zur Luftzirkulation. Diese erlaubt es, die Wärme innerhalb des Leuchtenkopfs durch die Platine zirkulieren zu lassen und über eine schmale und kaum sichtbare Lüftungskieme direkt nach außen abzuführen. Cooling is a major issue in LED luminaires – it is crucial in determining whether the light-emitting diodes can realise their extraordinary longevity and efficiency. The head of the Roxxane model houses a unique new solution in the form of a sophisticated mini-architecture for air circulation. This allows heat to circulate through the PCB inside the head and to be discharged directly to the outside via a narrow, hardly visible ventilation slot.

RIM R Als objekthafte Neuinterpretation und konsequente Erweiterung der minimalistischen Modul R-Serie fasziniert die neue Nimbus Rim R-Serie durch ihre formale Reduktion und völlig neue Designelemente. Dem Designstudio ID AID gelang mit dem Entwurf der Rim R-Serie eine neue Interpretation des ikonenhaften Nimbus LED.next Moduls. Design und Funktionalität sind bei dieser Leuchte eng verwoben: Der flache Leuchtkörper aus transluzentem Acrylglas – gehalten von einer nahezu unsichtbaren Lagerung – schwebt förmlich in dem silber-eloxierten oder weiß hochglänzenden Ringelement. Drei unterschiedliche Durchmesser mit verschie denen Höhen erlauben eine Vielzahl an Einsatzmöglichkeiten. Die Rim R wurde ganz aktuell mit dem „Interior Innovation Award 2012“ vom Rat für Formgebung/German Design Council ausgezeichnet. Design and functionality are narrowly intertwined in this luminaire: the slim luminaire body made of translucent acrylic glass – held by an almost invisible bearing – virtually hovers within the silveranodised or brilliant white ring element. Three different diameters, with various heights, allow a great many possible applications. The Rim R recently won the “Interior Innovation Award 2012” from the German Design Council.

Die neue und effizientere Modul Q 196 XL löst die bekannte Modul Q 144 XL ab. Auch die Modul Q 400 XL wurde energetisch optimiert und hat ab sofort eine Anschlussleistung von nur noch 88 Watt. Our Modul Q XL luminaires have already been successfully deployed in a large number of projects and have now been optimized in terms of their energy concept. The new and more efficient Modul Q 196 XL replaces the familiar Q 144 XL. The energy concept of the Modul Q 400 XL has also been optimized and as of now has a power requirement of only 88 watt.

Die Leuchtenfamilie gliedert sich in zwei sich prinzipiell unterscheidende Abstrahlungsvarianten. Hotel Aqua diffus verfügt über mattierte Glasabdeckungen ohne Lamellen mit weit abstrahlendem, diffusem Lichtaustritt. Hotel Aqua blendfrei dagegen ist mit Ausblendrastern mit Lamellen mit schmal abstrahlendem Lichtaustritt ausgestattet, um eine effiziente und zugleich blendfreie Beleuchtung zu gewährleisten. Für den Einsatz als Decken- oder Bodenleuchte empfehlen wir Horizontallamellen, für den Einsatz als Wandleuchte Längslamellen. Die Pollerleuchte ist mit 25° nach unten geneigten Lamellen erhältlich. Nimbus LED-Außenleuchten begeistern durch ihre angenehme, warmweiße Lichtfarbe. Außerdem haben unsere LED-Außenleuchten einen weiteren interessanten Vorteil: Insekten werden von dem Licht der Nimbus LED-Leuchten nicht angezogen. The Hotel Aqua LED family of luminaires is based on a system that allows a wide variety of different appli cations – from wall, ceiling and floor luminaires through to bollard luminaires. This family of luminaires is divided into two basic variants in terms of the way light is radiated. Hotel Aqua diffus has matt glass covers without louvres and with a wide, diffuse beam. Hotel Aqua blendfrei, on the other hand, is equipped with anti-glare louvre inserts and the beam is narrow to ensure efficient, glare-free lighting. We recommend horizontal louvres when used as a ceiling or floor luminaire and vertical louvres when used as a wall luminaire. The bollard luminaire is available with louvres tilted 25° downwards. Nimbus LED outdoor luminaires enthral with their pleasant warm-white light colour. Our LED outdoor luminaires feature a further interesting benefit: insects are not attracted by the light from Nimbus LED luminaires.
