ProjectStree 2022 Impact Report

Project Stree is a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit that fights for women empowerment in India through menstrual hygiene education. Project Stree holds workshops for women and girls in rural villages in India to educate them on proper feminine hygiene care.
Project Stree's mission is to empower Indian women and menstruating folk by increasing awareness about menstrual hygiene habits and challenging the stigma around women ' s health.
We envision a future where every Indian woman fully accepts that her body and its processes are not something to be ashamed of. Her body is sacred and linked with nature. We advocate for a future where each woman feels empowered to take her life and health into her own hands.
Project Stree is fortunate to work with partners, donors, and collaborators that share our goals of promoting menstrual health and education and allow us to create meaningful change for women in India.
Thanks to your support, in 2022, Project Stree has been able to conduct a record number of menstrual education workshops, serve the blind community, and expand to new communities in Gujarat.

People Involved
One of the main contributors to poor menstrual hygiene in rural India is lack of clean underwear Since 2021, Project Stree has partnered with Wear Equal, a sustainable underwear company, to provide up-cycled underwear to underprivileged communities in Gujarat. Together, we have been able to provide over 1000 pairs of underwear to girls in need.
Since 2020, Project Stree has been working with Saalt to promote a more sustainable period Saalt shares Project Stree's mission to make having a hygienic and eco-friendly period accessible to all. With Saalt by our side we have been able to introduce menstrual cups to young girls in schools in urban Gujarat and address the stigmas surrounding the usage of menstrual cups.
Our volunteers and workshop coordinator in India have worked tirelessly to expand access to sustainable period products and educate more women about menstrual health.
In 2022, Project Stree brought menstrual hygiene products and education to the blind community in Gujarat.
Through the support of The Association of the Blind of Gujarat, our workshops' informational booklets were converted from Gujarati to Hindustani Braille.
In addition to receiving menstrual hygiene products, attendees of our workshops at Pragya Chakshu, a live-in center for the blind, can consult tangible workshop materials for information about menstrual health
"I really appreciated how the volunteers sat with us, took our hands in theirs, physically explained the menstrual cycle using the 3D models and answered any questions that we had."
