Using photovoltaic technology in dairy industry – case study dr inż. Lech Maryniak

The great interest in alternative energy sources has been growing in the world for recent years. There is especially great interest in production of electricity from Renewable Energy Sources (RES). The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is characterised by especially favourable solar irradiance conditions. On the other hand the countries of this region live in uncertainty about the future. Every year prices of electricity and fuels are increased by several tens of percentage. This situation applies mainly to North Africa countries, and in particular the Arab Republic of Egypt (ARE) as the largest country in the region in terms of population. In view of the above, this country needs large quantities of electricity for the developing food industry [8], [9]. One of the alternative solutions seems to be own production of electricity for the industrial needs. In the case of a country with a high level of solar irradiance like Egypt, it is worth to consider the implementation of own production of electricity by using the photovoltaic technology.
