Cari lettori, il semestre ceco di presidenza Ue è ormai terminato ma rimane sempre molto elevata l’attenzione su come Praga influirà nei prossimi mesi sugli sviluppi futuri dell’Unione europea.
Dear readers, Although the Czech semester of UE presidency is now over, we keep focusing our attention on how Prague will actually influence UE’ s future developments in the next months.
Si tratta di un tema chiaramente importante che ci ha offerto lo spunto per aprire questo numero estivo del Progetto Repubblica Ceca, ad iniziare dalla copertina che abbiamo voluto dedicare, come avrete capito, ai ricorrenti malumori anti Bruxelles e sus‑ sulti euroscettici del presidente Vaclav Klaus. La domanda che tanti in Euro‑ pa adesso si pongono è infatti la seguente: sino a quando il primo inquilino del Castello di Praga, un uomo di stato che gode in Patria di ampio credito e popolarità, continuerà a bloc‑ care il Trattato Ue di Lisbona, nonostante il sì alla ratifica già espresso a chiare lettere dal Parlamento nazionale della Re‑ pubblica ceca? Sino a che punto Klaus porterà avanti questa sua volontà di impedire l’entrata in vigore di un Trattato che, no‑
nostante indiscusse debolezze, l’assoluta maggioranza delle cancellerie europee considera condizione necessaria per assi‑ curare alla Ue un futuro di rin‑ novamento e di crescita? Prima di concludere questa pagina introduttiva di Proget‑ to Repubblica Ceca, vorremmo ringraziare tutti coloro che, nelle ultime settimane, hanno voluto manifestarci una opinione su quest’opera di rinnovamento della rivista. Siamo consapevoli dei passi avanti ancora da com‑ piere, ma il parere dei lettori ha rafforzato la nostra convinzione di avere intrapreso la strada giu‑ sta perché questa pubblicazione continui a meritare il ruolo di più diffusa e seguita rivista italiana della Repubblica ceca. This is obviously a very important topic, so we decided to choose it as starting point to open this summer issue of our Czech Republic Project. The cover, for example, is clearly dedicated to President Vaclav Klaus’ recurring unrest against Brussels and to his antiEuropean sceptical qualms. As a matter of fact, many people in Europe wonder until when the first tenant of the Prague Castle, a very popular statesman who is in high favour with his Country, will continue to block the Lisbon UE Treaty, although the national parliament of Czech Republic has explicitly accepted its ratification. The question many ask is indeed the following: To what extent will Klaus carry out his personal fight to prevent this Treaty from becoming effective? Notwithstanding its undisputed weak points, most of
European chancelleries consider this Treaty an absolutely necessary condition to assure EU a future of renewal and, consequently, of growth. Before finishing this introductory page of the Czech Republic Project, we would like to thank all the people who in these last weeks have given us their opinions about the renewal of this magazine. We are aware there is still much to be improved, though the opinion of our readers has strengthened our belief that we have taken up the right path and we really hope this magazine will continue to earn the role of the most traditional and widespread Italian review in Czech Republic.
